Did you select to have the TurboTax account fees paid from the federal tax refund?   If you requested to have the TurboTax account fees deducted from your federal tax refund, the IRS will send the refund to a third party processor to have the fees and the $40 service charge deducted. The third party processor will deduct the TurboTax fees plus the $40 service charge and then attempt to direct deposit the remaining refund balance into the account that you entered on your tax return. For the status of your tax refund you will need to contact the third party processor, Santa Barbara Tax Product Group, using their website - https://www.sbtpg.com/ Tax Products Group Contact Information - https://help.sbtpg.com/hc/en-us/articles/230084587-Contact-Information Call 1-877-908-7228 Or email - TPG-CSsupport@greendotcorp.com
Federal. Thanks. Not blaming you lol. Just stating what happened. It was same when filling under miscellaneous income. Don't know why they charge such high percentage.

I bought the fed-only version and then paid to upgrade to fed and state, but I still only have the fed version. I try to do my state return and it says I owe $40. I deleted and reinstalled the program using the download link and that didn't work. It doesn't ask for a code when I try to install the fed and state, so it seems to revert to the old fed only version. Help?

In TurboTax Home & Business (Desktop), the generation of Form 8960 and its supporting Worksheet is strictly generated by two specific conditions:   MAGI Threshold: Your Modified Adjusted Gross Income must exceed $250,000 (Married Filing Jointly), $200,000 (Single/Head of Household), or $125,000 (Married Filing Separately).  Net Investment Income (NII): You must have at least $1 of taxable investment income (interest, dividends, capital gains, etc.). If your income is the same but you don’t see the form, it may be because you’re taking the Standard Deduction this year, since it increased for 2026. TurboTax will turn off the 8960 Part II calculations if you aren’t itemizing on Schedule A. You’ll need to itemize for foreign taxes to show up automatically on Line 9b.
@Clethro Since you must file as Married Filing Jointly for the senior deduction the $150,000 AGI would be used.

You can try this to fix your "swapped" places/dates of State residence in 2025 (as Utah has a state income tax while Washington does not).   Step 1 is to Update you My Info section: Open or continue your return. Click My Info in the left-hand menu. Click Edit next to your name. Scroll down to "State of Residence."  Make sure that your Resident State as of December 31 is Washington.  Check Yes when the question: "I lived in another state in 2025." prompts you.   Select Utah as the previous state. Enter the date you moved to Washington (August 2025).   Step 2 is to completely Delete your Utah return.   Here's the general procedure for viewing a list of all the forms in your return and deleting unwanted forms, schedules, and worksheets in TurboTax Online: Open or continue your return. On Tax Home, select Start, Continue, or Pick up where you left off to enter your return. In the left menu, select Tax Tools and then Tools. In the pop-up window Tool Center, choose Delete a form. Select Delete next to the form, schedule, and worksheet in the list and follow the instructions.  Find every form listed under Utah (e.g., Form TC-40, Part-Year Resident Schedule) and click Delete next to them.   Step 3 is to go back to the State Taxes tab and "Add" Utah again.   Because you fixed "My Info" in Step 1, it should now pull the August date correctly when you restart the Utah interview.     TurboTax FAQ: How do I view and delete forms in TurboTax Online?

If you already e-filed you are stuck with "5 days early" if the return is accepted.  If it rejects you can try to remove that option in the FILE section before you re-file.       "5 days early" means you are supposed to receive your federal refund from one to five days sooner than the refund date shown on the IRS refund site.   If it does not meet that "at least one day sooner" date, they are supposed to refund the $35 fee.   You have to pay attention to the date on the IRS refund site. You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount  (line 35a of your 2025 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:    https://www.irs.gov/refunds
