To see TurboTax calculations:
Detailed calculation information in TurboTax Online can be found by navigating to Tax Tools > Tools > View Tax Summary > Preview My 1040 to access the Form 1040 Worksheet. This worksheet, specifically the Tax Smart Worksheet located between lines 15 and 16, provides the in-depth, step-by-step calculations for your tax liability.
If you are using the Online version, you will need to have paid for your product in order to see all of the worksheets.
If you are using a Desktop version, you can switch to Forms Mode by clicking on Forms at the top of the screen. There, you can scroll through the complete list of forms and worksheets TurboTax has prepared and click on the one you want to review, or click "Open Form" above the list of forms on the left and enter the one you are looking for.

This is usually a penalty tax the IRS charges when retirement account guidelines aren't followed correctly.
This could be either putting too much into a retirement account or not taking out enough when required.
Excess Contributions: You contributed more than the annual limit to an IRA, Roth IRA, or other retirement account.
Missed Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs): If you don’t withdraw the required amount once RMDs begin, the IRS can assess a penalty.
How do I know if I contributed too much to my traditional IRA?
What are required minimum distributions (RMD)?

TurboTax does not accept a foreign telephone number, you can leave it blank if you do not have a U.S. based number. You can indicate the APO in the Personal Info section.

I had this same issue where it kept overwriting. I then decided to delete it and re-enter it. Then I started to get the hit a snag message. I spent 2 hours with someone in chat with no help! Eventually I found another thread to figure out a resolution on my own. Instead of deleting it from this screen, you have to go to tools and then forms. Then look for the 1099-SA and delete it. Then you will have to re-enter it, but it allowed me to add a second one after that.

After you enter form 1099-R keep going. If you have entered a birth date which makes you older than 70 1/2 there will be a page that asks Do any of these situations apply? Midway down is Were any of these funds sent directly to a charity? Then it will ask for the amount. The code in box 7 of form 1099-R must be 7 and the little IRA/SEP/SIMPLE box must be checked. A IRA QCD should be 0 taxable on 1040 line 4b and the QCD box checked. Unless you have other 1099R taxable amounts on 4b. You can’t do a QCD from a 401K. If you are looking at a summary screen or review screen those show the full amount as income and lump a lot of stuff together. You need to check the actual 1040 form and make sure it's right. Check lines 4b & 5b for any taxable amounts.

It sounds like either the acquisition date wasn't included in the download, or it imported incorrectly. Either way, you will need to edit your transactions. To do so navigate to "Your investment sales summary" screen. Click the Edit button next to the imported item on that screen. Correct the 1099-B information. Alternatively, in TurboTax Desktop you can use Forms mode to directly edit the 1099-B Worksheet.

@MaryK4 is my thinking wrong? I came up with this. Are you asking the $60 (50 for Advantage Plan) button at the top of the Desktop program? Are you in the same return? Sounds like it it only for 1 return so if you have to start a new return (and I would imagine even if you start the same one over with a new return) you have to buy it another time. I found this….. The Desktop Live help in the End User License agreement TurboTax Desktop Software EULA Tax Year 2025 It says…….. Live Tax Advice/Assistance – Personal Taxes Only. Intuit may provide a separate add-on Service that, for an additional fee, connects you to an Intuit Tax expert to obtain answers to tax questions and to assist you with preparation of your personal (not business) return(s). Additional fees apply; Live Tax Advice Service limited to one individual or joint return only. Additional Live Tax Advice Service may be purchased separately for additional returns. You must purchase the Service within your valid, licensed, installed version of the Software, and you will be required to verify your license and your Intuit Account. While you can request to change the Intuit Tax Expert you work with, the Service is non-refundable.

Yes, this is a known issue. Be aware, though, that if you used all of your 529 withdrawal for qualified education expenses you don’t have to report your 1099-Q at all.
