Entering Royalties into TT Premier Desk Top (directly on Royalty 1099-MISC entry page. Enter my name, Enter Payer's Name, EIN, Box 2 amount. no check in box for other info 1-18 or FATCA. Historically that completed the entry for a 1099-MISC Royalty. Press continue and select Royalty investment income. Press continue and get "Select or enter the royalty that earned this income" with red box below with red triangle and "We need some required info". Then "We'll include this 1099-MISC royalty income in the Royalty Income section (Schedule E) of your return. You can add other not on 1099-MISC later.  followed by another Red triangle "Needs info.    I don't recall anything like this in previous years. Need a clue. Is it asking the source of the royalty? Oil? Gas? and if so why isn't this asked on the entry page???

In TurboTax Deluxe, I see 'Wells Fargo' and 'Wells Fargo Clearing Service'.  For 'Wells Fargo' I get a message that documents are not ready for import until Feb. 13.  For 'Wells Fargo Clearing Service', a separate browser window opens to enter credentials.  If this is the path you're following, please share what happens next and we'll try to help.   Since the IRS has copies of all your 1099's consider using the Summary Method if you're unable to import.   @chinsinhawaii

Hi   I received a 1095-a form for 2025 tax year.   My former employer subsidizes my health care costs with a tax free monthly payment.  In researching this on line, there should be a question that asks if my payment is subsidized and there is nothing that does so.  The end result, Turbo Tax is showing a much bigger credit than I am due as a result.   In essence, my cost is 1250 per month,   former employer provides payment of 600 per month.  I did not get a prepayment on the tax credit.   I am using Premier for Mac

@slc22 If you entered the Form 1099-R is the correct location in TurboTax, that information is included with your e-filed tax return.  Just like if you entered a W-2, that information is included with the e-filed tax return. What exactly is the IRS complaining about in the letter you received?   I have been E-filing a Form 1099-R for the last twenty years with TurboTax, no IRS issues whatsoever.   To enter, edit or delete a form 1099-R - Click on Federal Taxes (Personal using Home and Business) Click on Wages and Income (Personal Income using Home and Business) Click on I'll choose what I work on (if shown) Scroll down to Retirement Plans and Social Security On IRA, 401(k), Pension Plan Withdrawals (1099-R), click the start or update button

Hello, I made a Roth contribution in 2025 at Fidelity, which is in excess of limits due to my MAGI being too high.   I plan to withdraw the excess plus earnings, prior to tax filing due date. So, when I report in TT my Roth contribution, do I just report the earnings, and not the original amount contributed, or how should this be handled? I fear this would not match the info that Fidelity would provide to the IRS regarding my Roth contribution.   TT does give me the option of reporting a re-characterization of Roth to Regular IRA, but not an option to report a 'timely' withdrawal. (I can't do a re-characterization since I dont have work income).   Also, does TT flag if the Roth Contribution is in excess of IRS limits once all the income numbers are entered (and MAGI calculated)?   Thank-you.

Your state estimated tax payments will serve as a credit your state tax liability and have to be entered on your tax return.   You enter your state estimated tax payments in the Federal section and they will flow through to your state return.   In TurboTax Online, you can enter the state estimated taxes you paid by following these steps:   Open your tax return Click on Federal in the left-hand column, then Deductions & Credits  Locate the section named Estimates and Other Taxes Paid and click on the arrow on the right  Click on Start next to Estimated Tax Payments On the next page, click Start next to State estimated taxes for 2025.

Sounds like something got stuck. You can try these things:   Log Out Completely: Before doing anything else, click Sign Out in the TurboTax menu. Clear Cache and Cookies: This removes old, "corrupted" data that might be confusing the website. Use an Incognito (Private) Window: This is the most effective "quick fix" because it launches the browser without any saved history or extensions (like AdBlockers) that often interfere with tax forms. Check Pop-up Blockers: TurboTax often opens forms (like the 1099 PDF) or payment windows in a separate pop-up. Look at the right side of your address bar for a small icon with a "red X"—click it and select "Always allow pop-ups from Intuit." Restart the Browser: Close all open windows of your browser entirely and then reopen it.   Most TurboTax errors happen because the browser is trying to use an old "session" from a previous visit. By clearing the cache or using Incognito mode, you force the browser to establish a brand-new, secure connection with the Intuit servers.   If you are using desktop, you may need to do a manual update.    Try clearing your Cache and Cookies and then try this link instructions.

In addition to the income$ amounts, I input the names, addresses, and other account information for each of the payees into the TurboTax Deluxe Online app. My expectation is that this information is transmitted by TurboTax to the IRS as part of my tax return.  TurboTax failed to submit the payer information which is the sole reason that the IRS withheld my refund. I am seeking a refund for TurboTax's failure to submit all of the payee information that I provided.  Thank you for your service this issue.

In 2025, your charitable donations will only benefit you if you are itemizing your deductions. Your state and local taxes (SALT), mortgage interest, charitable donations, medical expenses that exceed 7.5% of your AGI, and a few other items would have to add up to more than your standard deduction in order for itemizing to give you the better tax outcome.    Starting in 2026, the One Big Beautiful Bill Act  (OBBBA) significantly changes charitable tax rules, allowing non-itemizers to deduct up to $1,000  (single) or $2,000  (married filing jointly) in cash donations.
