I disagree. I have not had box 16 filled in for New York State 1099R forms in the past and never had a problem with filing through turbo tax. I have paid my fees electronically to turbo tax and now it says I might have to mail my returns. There is a problem with their software.

Money withdrawn from a pension automatically satisfies the RMD requirement for that account as those payments are typically fixed and occur over a lifetime.  You IRA is subject to RMD after reaching a defined age - for 2025 anyone born before 1953 should be removing RMD from any traditional IRA or 401(k), 403(b), etc. plan.  If your IRA custodian calculated your RMD and distributed it to you correctly as $4219.41, then that amount will satisfy your RMD for that account, if this is the only traditional plan that you have.

UPDATE:   So yesterday I followed your advice and adjusted the number on each 1099-R to reflect what I had withdrawn from each account to meet my RMD requirements.  The app continued to show a penalty.   This morning I had planned to delete each 1099-R individually to see what was triggering the penalty. Ended up I did not need to do this?  I logged into TT, it opened my tax return, and found that everything was correct.  The penalty was gone and the data aligned with my estimates.  Not sure why this occurred, but right now the app is processing my return without the penalty.

This is totally unexpectable to take this long to get this form ready.
That is correct.

Yes, here is how you can remove your entries.   Before deleting forms, try to "uncheck" the triggers in the interview. Go to Deductions & Credits > Retirement and Investments. Click Update/Revisit next to Traditional and Roth IRA Contributions. On the very first screen ("Select your IRA type"), uncheck both boxes (Traditional and Roth). Click Continue. TurboTax should ask if you want to remove the entries. Say Yes. If this doesn't work.   On the left-hand menu, click Tax Tools and then Tools. In the pop-up window, select Delete a form. Look for these specific forms and click Delete next to them: IRA Contributions Worksheet (This is usually . Form 8606 (Nondeductible IRAs). IRA Explanation Statement (If you were doing a recharacterization). Once deleted, click Done at the bottom and Restart your computer/browser. This clears the "cache" that often holds onto dead data.   For TurboTax Desktop (Windows/Mac): Click the Forms icon in the top right corner. In the list on the left, find the IRA Contributions Worksheet. Highlight it, then click the Delete Form button at the very bottom of the screen. Repeat for Form 8606 if it exists. Switch back to Step-by-Step mode. If none of these options work, you may wish to clear and start over, but only at a last resort.

I have a 1099DA where the cost basis is unknown, because this is due to the Celsius bankruptcy.      from turbotax:  "How do you plan on submitting your 1099‑DA to the IRS? You'll need to mail a paper copy to the IRS."   I've even tried experimenting with different in puts and it always say that for any 1099DA.  Actually. turbotax requests a bunch of information on the DA  (do I edit in Adobe?) which I do not and cannot have:   "Take a moment to double-check that your statements are complete. For each sale listed, there should be: A description Date acquired Date sold Sales price Cost basis Gain or loss for each sale A sale category based on how the sale was reported to you and the IRS"   However none of that is listed on the 1099DA because paypal has no insight, and the original company went bankrupt, - also much of that info I literally cannot know, because I don't know when my GUSD was converted to BTC.      Questions: Am I supposed to make up my own 1099da with this info?   Do I really need to mail a physical copy of my own sort of 1099da where I've shoved in estimated cost-basis values?  Seems like this should all by handled by 8949, but this is where turbotax is ducting me.
I don't have an RMD, but my wife does - so they want her 5498 RMD info sent w 12/31/2024 balance and RMDs?
