All sections had appropriate information in said boxes. I deleted and even manually entered information. Each time TT defaulted to using state wages instead of the stated local wages information.

Same issue. Helpline simply asks if you are having problems with the switch from Window 10 to 11 and when you reply 'no' their reply is simply "we can't help you" and they hang up. No way to connect with an agent. Turbotax has obviously become so big they can no longer provide adequate support. Sad, I've been a satisfied customer for many years but it appears I will have to find my own solution and switch to another company next year.

Thank you all for your responses. I understand that I should not be filling out the "Child's Unearned Income" section as that is for my children (which is not the case). However, if I skip that part (and having entered 1099-G in "1099-MISC and Other Common Income"), TT flags error when I reach the end for review. And, then it takes me to "Child's Unearned Income" section and starts asking me questions about my parent's filing such as if they filed jointly, if they are married, their taxable income, etc. If I fill out this section, my tax shoots up dramatically (because of my parents tax rate). So, even though the "Child's Unearned Income" section seems to be for my children, but the questions there are for my parents. Am I doing something wrong?

If you are filing as Married Filing Jointly then when asked your relationship to the child you select Your daughter.

When you Amend your 2024 return (make sure you saved a copy of your originally filed return), go through the Deductions section to be sure all your itemized deductions are there (or add them, if not). At the end of the Deductions section, you should get a message either 'Standard Deduction is right for you' or 'Itemized Deductions are right for you'. If TurboTax indicates 'Standard', click the link to 'change your deduction' to itemized.
The Form 1040X will have amounts from your original return in Column A, changed amounts in Column B, and Column C will have correct amounts. In your case, this should be on Line 2. You can view Form 1040X in FORMS in TurboTax Desktop. I'm not sure what question you are being asked for in 11a, but you have not filed a 1040X yet; originally a 1040.
Your explanation is is correct for reason for amending. If you have more questions, we'll try to help.

@msgregor06 I feel your justified frustration. As I opined above, there is absolutely nothing one can do externally to get the required TT behavior. The TT engineers need to change their code.

I imported all of the tax forms from the brokerage firm, and several blank forms were imported to Turbo Tax. Everything listed on the 1099 Consolidated Tax Summary has a specific form filled out in Turbo Tax (like a 1099 Div / 1099 Interest etc....) There are 4 extra forms that are completely blank (Two 1099 Div and two 1099 Interest forms.) I don't know why they are there? Do I just delete them? Thank you

Velux had been promoting their skylights with solar-powered blinds as being eligible for the credit for solar energy property, however, they have since retracted that guidance - check this link.
I did find Velux on the Energy Star website and they do have skylights that qualify for the Residential Energy-Efficient Credit.
If your skylights do qualify for the credit, I would recommend contacting Velux USA to ask them for their QMID code so that you can claim the credit on your tax return.
Nearly all energy-efficient credits are no longer available in 2026, with only the Alternative energy fueling credit for home charging stations being available through June 30, 2026.

TurboTax may be defaulting to your State wages because there seems to be no information in the "Local taxes" section (Boxes 18-20) from which to obtain the correct amount.
Since you are not expecting a refund, before e-filing, check your W-2 to ensure that it has information in that section.
Also check Box 20 to make sure the school district or locality name matches your W-2 exactly.

thank you SO MUCH. Hugely helpful!! I did enter in the 1099 Q and it suddenly reduced our tax refund, so I went through questions carefully and no where did it ask for additional expenses such as room and board. so it was assuming it was not used for additional educational expenses. I noticed through a search this: Known 2025 Glitch: Some users report that the 2025 TurboTax interface fails to prompt for additional (non-1099-T) expenses like room and board. If this occurs, switch to "Forms Mode" in the Desktop version to manually enter these on the "Student Info Wk". I've got a spreadsheet so I am not going to bother entering in the 1099 Q at all. thanks again!

From the IRS Instructions for Form 7206:
The insurance plan must be established, or considered to be established, as discussed in the following bullets, under your business.
For self-employed individuals filing a Schedule C (Form 1040) or Schedule F (Form 1040), a policy can be either in the name of the business or in the name of the individual.
For partners, a policy can be either in the name of the partnership or in the name of the partner. You can either pay the premiums yourself or the partnership can pay them and report the premium amounts on Schedule K-1 (Form 1065) as guaranteed payments to be included in your gross income. However, if the policy is in your name and you pay the premiums yourself, the partnership must reimburse you and report the premium amounts on Schedule K-1 (Form 1065) as guaranteed payments to be included in your gross income. Otherwise, the insurance plan won’t be considered to be established under your business.
Based on the facts as you stated, assuming the policy is in your name, the qualifications are met to consider it established under your business.
