Your daughter could file her own return and report the interest and pay the applicable tax. You have the option to report her income on your return under certain circumstances, but it is not required. Your other option is to file an amended return for yourself in TurboTax that you can do for free.

Hi, I filed a claim with the state Department of Transportation for damage to my vehicle due to state's negligence in removing snow and ice from the roadway in winter of 2025.  They honored the claim for the full $700 after I signed the release.  I just received a 1099-MISC for this $700 even though it was purely for body damage to my car based on the repair shop estimate.  My understanding is property damage reimbursement of this kind is non taxable.  When I pop the 1099-MISC into Turbotax of course it treats it as taxable.  What to do?  Thanks in advance!

Sometimes when the property tax paid has been doubled it is because the user entered the property taxes both in the Mortgage Interest section and the Property Taxes section. You can enter them in either section, but be sure to enter them only once.   The entry screens vary by version (e.g., Online vs. Desktop), but once you enter an amount for property tax paid, you can edit it by clicking on an a button in that section that is labeled Update or Edit or Add/Edit next to the amount you already entered. When you click the button, another screen will appear where you can revise the amount you already entered.   See this tax tips article for more information on Property Taxes.

I would like to take a deeper look at this. However, I need a diagnostic file which is a copy of your tax return that has all of your personal information removed. You can send one to us by following the directions below:   TurboTax Online:   Sign into your online account. Locate the Tax Tools on the left-hand side of the screen. A drop-down will appear. Select Tools On the pop-up screen, click on “Share my file with agent.” This will generate a message that a diagnostic file gets sanitized and transmitted to us. Please provide the Token Number that was generated in the response.   TurboTax Desktop/Download Versions:   Open your return. Click the Online tab in the black bar across the top of TurboTax and select “Send Tax File to Agent” * This will generate a message that a diagnostic copy will be created.  Click on OK and the tax file will be sanitized and transmitted to us. Please provide the Token Number  (including the dash) that was generated in the response.   *(If using a MAC, go to the menu at the top of the screen, select Help, then, “Send Tax File to Agent”) @freshtech  @selby14  @user17699032051  @bkdonner63  @T6R1U9E

You can withdraw contributions you made to your Roth IRA anytime, tax- and penalty-free. Therefore, TurboTax is asking about your prior contribution before 2025 and you will enter the sum of all your Roth IRA contributions prior to 2025 minus any contributions withdrawn in prior years. Then next question will be about Conversions.

It is a bummer that Intuit decided to side with Apple on this. I have loved Turbotax, but it is not worth purchasing a new Mac for. I will also be looking at competitors who allow their software to run on legacy systems next year. Intuit - please consider revising your policy on this. Competitors, here's an edge.

When you downloaded TurboTax, you may need to go to your Downloads folder and double-click to start the installation of the program.  Once it has installed, you'll have the TurboTax icon on your desktop.  Double-click it and you should then be asked for your License Code to activate the program.    @Chris48063
You cannot do anything until the return is processed and you receive your refund if applicable. If you get your refund then you don't need to do anything else.
What type of issue are you experiencing? Can you be more specific and provide details of what you are experiencing and in which step of your return preparation does it occur?
We'd like to help you but need more information.  Please clarify what your question is about SSA.
I donated to goodwill a bunch. Never more than like 500$ each and I itemized my taxes with the amounts never over 500$. I’ve always submitted this way. What is going on

I wasn't able to do this either until I reopened my 2024 return, updated the software, and resaved. Then I was allowed to import into 2025. Prior to this, the 2025 software could find the 2024 .tax file, but not open it. Now it can. YMMV

You won't be able to file an amendment, until your tax return is fully processed and you receive your refund or your balance due is deducted from your account.  In addition, the 1040X used to amend your tax return won't be ready for a few weeks.     You can check for Forms availability by reviewing the TurboTax article When will my individual tax forms be available in TurboTax?   For more information and instructions, review the TurboTax articles How to Correct Federal Tax Returns, How to File an Amended Tax Return with the IRS and Video: How to Amend Your Tax Return.
