"5 days early" means you are supposed to receive your refund from one to five days sooner than the refund date shown on the IRS refund site.   If it does not meet that "at least one day sooner" date, they are supposed to refund the $35 fee.   You have to pay attention to the date on the IRS refund site. You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount  (line 35a of your 2025 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:    https://www.irs.gov/refunds
What is the choice that you need that you aren't seeing?  How did you file last?
The update I did today brought Merrill back the import menu and I was able to import my data!

My section 179 deduction is not adding it to accumulated depreciation so the balance sheet is off.   The balance sheet on page 4 Schedule L Accumulated depreciation shows $159,317. My section 179 deduction is $23,756.00. This is causing my Assets to be $23,756 higher then my Liabilites.  My book accumlated depreciation is $183,073 so its off by the exact amount of the 179.   Is the asset section of TurboTax not complete and still have updates coming?   Jake

It can take four months or more for the IRS to process an amended return.     You can watch for information here: https://www.irs.gov/filing/wheres-my-amended-return

It is true you cannot use the forms mode if using the online TurboTax product. However, when you enter your Form 1098-T you are asked to enter qualifying education expenses such as tuition, books and required fees. If you enter the Form 1099-Q before you enter your Form 1098-T you will be asked for your room and board expenses (in the 1098-T section) that would be allowed as a deduction to determine if the income from your education savings plan is taxable, and to what extent. So it seems you just need to complete the Form 1099-Q and 1098-T sections in TurboTax to account for your ESA distribution and education expenses.

Sometimes the IRS chooses returns randomly to request verification of identity and sometimes there is something on the return that triggers the request.  No matter why the IRS has required you to verify your identity, you need to follow their instructions in order to receive your refund.  If you do not verify your identity you will not get your refund.   https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tips/security/tips-for-handling-identity-verification-requests-from-the-irs/L55RhaS2B   https://www.irs.gov/identity-theft-fraud-scams/identity-verification-for-irs-letter-recipients
Just to be clear, are you suggesting this as a improvement? I can suggest it if so.

I used to be sent a CD with license code. Evidently that was discontinued. I'm on auto renew for TurboTax Advantage Deluxe. My credit card is automatically charged. Then, I'm supposed to receive an email with the license code in order to install and access the tax return prep. I've not received that email.  I've attempted numerous times to have it sent. They have my correct email address.

This is correct. Since a typical 4-year degree spans 5 calendar years, one semester usually doesn’t qualify for the AOTC.   If you’ve already used the AOTC four times, TurboTax will guide you to the Lifetime Learning Credit for that last spring semester. This credit covers 20% of expenses up to $10,000 and is non-refundable, but it’s the usual way to get tax savings in your 5th year.

I can't believe there is no help available for this type of situation. Praying someone actually has an answer.

TurboTax gives you an estimated date for receiving your refund based on a 21 day average from your date of acceptance, but it can take longer.  “21 days”  is not a promise from TurboTax or the IRS.      First, check your e-file status to see if your return was accepted:  https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/   Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control.  TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.     You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount  (line 35a of your 2025 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:    https://www.irs.gov/refunds   To track your state refund:     https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/track-state-refund/L3jgO8PGs_US_en_US?uid=lt447ebr   If you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, that will take some extra time, while the third party bank handles the refund processing     https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/refunds-take-longer-others/L14YlqFrH_US_en_US?uid=lexdr7zh . https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/irs-refund-taking-longer-21-days/L2vRAJbdU_US_en_US?uid=lexe7lst         If you are getting earned income credit on line 27 or additional child tax credit on line 28 You are subject to the delay required by the PATH act.  Do not expect your refund before early March   https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/internal-revenue-service/federal-refunds-delayed-due-path-act/L5jnQJsBi_US_en_US   Note:  “Accepted” is not the same as “approved”.  TurboTax tells you the e-file was accepted if the IRS deems that there is enough information on the return for them to take it in for processing.   Only the IRS can approve of the refund, which is a later stage of processing.  If the IRS approves your refund they will provide a date for the refund to be issued.   FROM THE IRS WHERE’S MY REFUND SITE: https://www.irs.gov/wheres-my-refund How it works Where's My Refund shows your refund status: Return Received – We received your return and are processing it. Refund Approved – We approved your refund and are preparing to issue it by the date shown. Refund Sent – We sent the refund to your bank or to you in the mail. It may take 5 days for it to show in your bank account or several weeks for your check to arrive in the mail.
