In order for your child to qualify as your dependent, they must reside with you. See this IRS webpage for further details. You would also have to provide more than half of their support.   To meet the residency test, your child must have lived with you for more than half the year. There are exceptions for temporary absences, children who were born or died during the year, adopted or foster children, kidnapped children, and children of divorced or separated parents.   Temporary absences.   Your child is considered to have lived with you during periods of time when one of you, or both, is temporarily absent due to special circumstances, such as:   Illness, Education, Business, Vacation, Military service, or Detention in a juvenile facility. An absence of several years would probably not qualify as temporary under IRS rules; an absence of one year or less may qualify. You may wish to contact the nonprofit to find out what experience their employees or volunteers may have had with this issue.

We anticipate the depreciation calculations within the software should be updated after February 13, 2026. Our tech team is working hard to release the updates before that date.    Please be aware that this update will affect depreciation for Schedule E (Rental Properties) only. Schedule C (Self-Employment) was updated previously and should be working in all versions of TurboTax.

So if Intuit knew the depreciation for rentals would not be available until mid February, why did you change it to show it was available on 1/21?  You would get a lot less complaints if your website was even close to being accurate. I am really disappointed you do not have enough or qualified techs to fix whatever is needed to be fixed and get the update out in a more timely manner.

Q. Ok so doing it that way kept #’s the same which is fine but it didn’t bring up the 8615 form or ask that question about amt used to calculate question, Is that ok?    Not getting the amt used to calculate the tuition credit  question is expected.  But, with $14K W-2 and $10,802 of taxable scholarship, she should be getting form 8615.

You should not have "0" or blank in Part III, Column B for any month that someone in your household had coverage under a Marketplace plan.  You need an SLCSP premium every month that you had coverage.    If this is the case on your form. you can use the government's tax tool to get the premium for your second lowest cost Silver plan. I checked the link and they now have the option to select 2025.  Failure to do this will result in a wrong calculation of the premium tax credit.   Once you have your premium amounts, make sure that your entries for Form 1095-A are correct, that you marked all the correct boxes in TurboTax. To go back through your entries:   Open or continue your return. Navigate to the 1095-A section: TurboTax Online/Mobile: Go to 1095-A. TurboTax Desktop: Search for 1095-a, then select the Jump to link.   What is the Premium Tax Credit (PTC) and What is Tax Form 8962?
