TurboTax Premier online or desktop?  In the desktop version you would need to upgrade to TurboTax Home and Business to enter business income. If you are in the online version you can use Premium to file the self-employment income.    Because he earned over $400 he will need to file a return, even if he does not have other income, since this would be considered self-employment income.    To enter his Uber Eats self-employment income and expenses select the following in either the online or desktop version: Federal Income and Expenses Show More next to Self-Employment Start next to Self-Employment Yes, to you have any self-employment income or expenses Enter the type of self-employment work you do and you can select that you use your name for your business Click through a few more screens and you will get to a screen that says "Your XX info" Click Looks good Then you will come to a screen that says Let's enter the income for your business.  It will give you the option of 1099-NEC or Other self-employed income including the 1099K , cash and checks.  If you do not select one, it will not let you enter your income Enter your self-employment income on the next screen Continue and on the next screen click add expenses Select Business Vehicle to enter his mileage or vehicle expenses.  Continue through and enter any other expenses that may be relevant such as phone service (which may need to be prorated) and bags, or other items he may use to deliver. * Please note navigation may differ slightly depending on which version of TurboTax you are using* The income and expenses as an independent contractor  will be reported on Schedule C which is part of your overall tax return. You are getting the message because TurboTax is not set up to report the sale of an asset that whose business percentage has varied from year to year.   That means you either need to manually calculate some things and manually enter or override some things in the desktop version, or go to a good tax professional that can handle it.

TurboTax does not have these codes in their dropdown menu for entering Box 12 of Form W-2.   It was not intended for the Form W-2 for 2025 to have codes TT and TP.  The IRS has included those codes in their instructions for Form W-2 for 2026.  However, some employers are using codes TT and TP on their 2025 W-2's which has caused some confusion.   If your W-2, Box 12 has a Code TT for qualified overtime. The code "TT" is for overtime. You will be able to use the amount in Box 12 for TT to enter your overtime in the TurboTax program.    Do not enter it with your Form W-2. Instead, look for  screen that says "Let's Check for Uncommon Situations."  Check the box for "Overtime." TurboTax will then prompt you to enter your overtime information needed to calculate the deduction for overtime.   The code "TP" is for  tips. On your  Form W-2 your total tips should be included in your total wages in box 1 of your W-2, and the amount of tips should be shown in box 7 of your W-2.    If your tips are in box 7  ignore the code TP in box 12.   TurboTax will ask some follow-up questions regarding your tips after entering your Form W-2 to determine whether you are eligible for the deduction for tips.   If your tips are not reported on your Form W-2 you should ask your employer for a corrected Form W-2 that shows your tips in Box 7.   Click here for Instructions for Form W-2.    Click here for How Do I Fill Out the Box 12 Information From My W-2? Please return to Community if you have any additional information or questions and we would be happy to help.

Probably not.  If the distribution is the proceeds from the sale of property and the Trust is reporting the gain and paying the tax then you would not have to pay any tax on that transaction.  If however, the trust reports the gain on your K-1 as a beneficiary of the trust then you would have to report the gain and pay any resulting tax.  So if there's not gain on your K-1, you want have to pay any tax on the gain on the sale.

Do you mean that you entered both 2024 income and 2025 income on the same tax return?   You will have to remove the 2024 income and leave only the 2025 income.     You cannot change or add anything on the return that you just e-filed, nor can you stop it.  It is too late, just like when you put an envelope in a US mailbox on the corner.  The IRS does not allow you to take it back.   If you left out a W-2, a 1099G, or a dependent, or a 1099 etc…DO NOT change your return while it is “pending.”  The changes will go nowhere.   Now you have to wait until the IRS either rejects or accepts your return.  If your return is rejected, you will be able to go into your account and make the necessary changes to your tax return and re-submit your return.     If the IRS accepts your return, however, then you have to wait longer until it has been fully processed and you have received your refund.  THEN you can prepare an amended tax return and e-file or mail  it in. You have to be able to work from that return exactly the way it was when it was e-filed originally.  You will need to use a form called a 1040X.     Meanwhile, DO NOT go in and start changing anything on your return in the system, or you will make a mess for yourself.  Sit tight and wait until you see what the IRS does with the return you just e-filed   The Form 1040X you need becomes available in late February,  But wait until your return has been processed.       Meanwhile if you need to prepare and file a 2024 return: You cannot change the tax year.   The current online program is for 2025 only.   Only a 2025 return can be prepared online and only a 2025 return can be e-filed.   Online preparation and e-filing for 2022, 2023, and  2024 is permanently closed. Note:  The desktop software you need to prepare the prior year return must be installed/downloaded to a full PC or Mac.  It cannot be used on a mobile device.   To file a return for a prior tax year  If you need to prepare a return for 2022, 2023, or 2024  you can purchase and download desktop software to do it, then print, sign,  and mail the return(s) https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/past-years-products/ You may also want to explore purchasing the software from various retailers such as Amazon, Costco, Best Buy, Walmart, Sam’s, etc.   Remember to prepare your state return as well—if you live in a state that has a state income tax.   https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/state-taxes/contact-state-department-revenue/L9qVToi02_US_en_US?uid=m6e06um0     When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.  Use a mailing service that will track it, such as certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.   Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses.  Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.

I got it to work by not rounding the amount of Medicare withheld up. Mine was XXXX .61 cents and I just left the whole number there and put .00 cents, and it worked.

If you chose the "5 day early" option and your refund did not come in at least one day sooner than the refund date shown on the IRS site, then your $35 should be waived.   But the refund date is based on what the IRS shows---what date is showing on the IRS site? You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount  (line 35a of your 2025 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:    https://www.irs.gov/refunds

My concern with the answer to this question is that the update will be available "AFTER" February 13 or sooner. AFTER February 13 gives you any length of time - and maybe sooner basically says it will be ready when it is ready. This is the last thing I'm waiting on to get my taxes filed - been using TurboTax since early 2000's.   This is the first time you've not be ready before Feb 1 - when many people are ready to file.
