This requirement may vary by state. In general, you would use the MM/DD/YYYY format. Make sure it matches the exact date on your license.
If you have ID that does not have an expiration date, you may need to skip the entry and continue with the program. Some states do not require this information.

Called TT support and reported, was eventually told it was due to not having the updates from the IRS, which the expect today Jan 26 2026. Checked software version, no updates available. Installed on Jan 25 2026 from download. Support said this problem and others are expected to be patched and he would send a list of areas not yet completed for the desktop version via email. (No email arrived, but I did get a survey for the call). Anyway, the solution for me was to go to the form, social security - open it - scroll down - delete it, then go to step by step, click update on the section, and voila, I could enter the data. fyi It appears this problem existed last year and still hasn't been fixed, so try this as a temp fix

Hey everyone. I put in how much I paid in child care, the childcare providers name & address. But accidentally put “tax exempt” 😭 will I have to amend my taxes?

You should only submit an amended version of the main form and any other changed forms. Do not submit an updated version of the original 1040 and IT201, the receivers have to discard them.

You may need to do a manual update.

It would be helpful to get an estimate of when Form 5695 will actually be available. I like others have received an email notification saying the form is available, but it is only available in FORMS, not Step by Step. Rather misleading and disappointing. This is the last form I need to complete my taxes, just waiting on Turbotax.

And I repeat it’s not about being patient is about being precaution if there’s so many tax returns that are there why are people getting accepted? It’s picking and choosing because I haven’t seen or heard of anyone else complaining about the same issue as me and it’s very a coincidence that this is the first year that I used TurboTax Help and now I’m having issues because I just helped my sister like I said an hour ago and she got her notification of acceptance I’m literally helping my cousin right now and I will come back to this post and show that she got accepted within minutes. I am patient. I’m not in a rush to get my money. I just don’t wanna run into any encounters that I never ran into before. I don’t need automatic responses I was just looking for other regular people that might be having the same issue or that had this issue like last year

If you are no longer eligible to use TurboTax Free Edition, this is generally because you have added a form that is not supported in Free Edition, such as the 8889 (common enough).
However, we in Community cannot your your private tax data, so I have to note that there are a number of other forms that can trigger this.
If it is the 8889 at issue, let me ask the following:
1. Do you have an entry in box 12 of your W-2 of a code W? This would indicate a contribution by your employer to your HSA, which would trigger form 8889.
2. Did you have an HSA in 2024, and carry over an excess contribution from 2024 to 2025? This would also trigger the 8889.
3. Besides, "pay for TurboTax", where there any specific messages about additional forms that you can tell us?

I have not been able to open the tax year 2025 Turbo Tax charitable deductions section yet; Turbo Tax says it is still under construction. But reviewing IRS 2025 Form 8283, it looks essentially the same as 2024 for donations of clothes and household items where the individual item (or group of similar items, as the Form says) have a fair market value of less than $500.00 If your prior donations were below this level, and your current donations are above this level, that may be the reason Turbo Tax is asking about purchase price, etc. Form 8283 requires the purchase price for items valued above $500; this is not new. So what could be driving all this is not Turbo Tax itself (or the IRS) but the size of your donations.

The OBBA has introduced a new deduction for overtime pay from tax year 2025. You may deduct up to $12,500 of qualified overtime premium on your Federal tax return (up to $25,000 for MFJ). The deduction is gradually phased out if your MAGI exceeds $150,000 ($300,000 for MFJ). The deduction is for the overtime premium, which is the portion over your regular pay. For tax year 2025, your employer may list non-taxable overtime in box 14 with a specific label like "FLSA OT Prem". You might also receive a separate year-end statement giving you the amount. Otherwise, you have to calculate the overtime premium to enter on your tax return. For tax year 2026 onwards, a specific Box 12 code will be used. This amount is an above-the-line deduction, meaning it will be subtracted from your gross income on form 1040. In TurboTax Online, this is how you enter the qualified overtime premium: After entering your form W-2, you'll see a screen titled Let's Check for Other Situations Put a checkmark on Overtime and click Continue Follow the TurboTax questionnaire to enter your qualified overtime premium This deduction will transfer to Schedule 1-A of your form 1040, then to line 13b of your form 1040.

No.
The income remains with the 401(k) trust and is tax-deferred. You do not report this income on your tax return.

Hi, a question on how to enter the data on the Pension Plan section: Do I enter 2 lines? a. Spouse deferral amount (e.g. $12k) b. Spouse profit sharing (e.g. $3k, ie. 25% of deferral) Thanks!

The S-Corp can reimburse you and your spouse for any health care expenses that you have. These expenses reduce taxable income for the S-Corp. But they must be reported on the W2 issued to you and your spouse in box 1 although they are not taxable for social security and medicare purposes. So they would be reported as income on the W2 and the 941 although they would not be reported as FUTA wages and their treatment in PA should be the same as the federal.

You can try going out of your TurboTax program and going back in and clearing your cache and cookies to clear the message. If you were able to e-file your tax return, then everything should be fine.
Your TurboTax return should show as "Pending" immediately after e-filing. This indicates that it is in transit to the IRS or your state agency, but hasn't been accepted or rejected yet. This status usually lasts 24–48 hours.
Your TurboTax return will usually show as "Accepted" within 24 to 48 hours after e-filing. This indicates that the IRS has received it and it has passed some initial checks.
Your tax return will show as "Approved" within 21 days of e-filing your return. This status can be confirmed by using the IRS Tool Where's My Refund?

ItsDeductible helps keep all my donations organized. Why would you discontinue a tool that people find works for them? If it is just upgrading the software, sounds like you are not supporting the customers' needs. This can't be that hard to upgrade a tool like this that can keep track of our charitable organizations and donations. Please upgrade and bring back!
