actual e-filing doesn't open until 1/26 so you'll have to wait. Also your return must be accepted.

I am trying to enter my energy-efficient boiler information on Form 5695. The software requires a "Qualified Manufacturer ID" (QMID). The official IRS-registered code for Weil-McLain is 46H2. However, TurboTax is blocking the entry with a validation error stating the format must be "Letter-Number-Letter-Number." Because 46H2 starts with a number, the software will not allow me to proceed. This is a legitimate IRS code from the manufacturer's certification statement. How can I bypass this formatting rule to file my return accurately? Or can Turbotax fix this on their end

If you switch to the Online version for 2025…..You will notice several differences and may not like the online version. It has less features and no Forms Mode. The Online web version is only good for one account and one return. Although you can use the same email address for 5 separate accounts. Your return is only saved online so be sure to save both the .tax2025 data file and the pdf file to your computer when you are done. You can log in and access your return from any computer. You only can see the forms after you pay and download the pdf. And you might need to upgrade to a higher version to enter different kinds of income. If you can't install Turbo Tax Desktop program you can transfer from your 2024 return from your computer into the online version. You need to have the file ending in.tax2024 on your computer. If you used the Desktop program last year here’s How to transfer into the Online version, https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/entering-importing/help/how-do-i-transfer-last-year-s-return-into-... There are 3 Online versions. And you can add LIVE service or Full Service for expert help. In Online the fees are to prepare the federal and state returns (State is a separate charge) whether you efile or print and mail. Efiling is free and included.

there's an offer for 2025 where you can switch a desktop license to ONLINE PREMIUM for FED+STATE for no extra cost (any version so just buy deluxe I assume). This offer shows up when you install the s/w on Win 10 machine and get the dialogue below (not tried it as I am on Mac and not sure if there's another way to activate it). Note online is not the same as desktop, there is no Forms mode and you can only prepare 1 return per account. Normally it's more expensive but this offer mitigates that for 2025 unless you have multiple returns. As for Win 11 being low use, it's twice the size of Win 10 in the US. Win 10 is 25% of the US user base if you assume Mac is 25% and Win is 75%. Desktop is less than 1% of Intuit revenues and in decline, while online is 10x desktop in users and 20x revenue and growing 8-10% annually. Win 10 amounts to a $50mil revenue decision for a $21bn company. They've also cut ItsDeductible and desktop basic, and offered multiple incentives this year to switch to online - clearly that is their focus. See offer details here https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/download-products/end-support-windows-8-... https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/articles/community-news-announcements/turbotax-windows-10-desktop-... https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/marketing/ty25-ttd-direct-offer/L0aUgksJ...

The amount is trivial in terms tax liability. I would ignore it.

if you apply and are approved before you transmit, you still have to wait until the IRS opens e-filing on 1/26 and your return is accepted.

Who Must File In general. If you are a citizen or resident of the United States, you must file a gift tax return (whether or not any tax is ultimately due) in the following situations. • If you gave gifts to someone in 2025 totaling more than $19,000 (other than to your spouse), you must generally file Form 709. But see Transfers Not Subject to the Gift Tax and Gifts to Your Spouse, later, for more information on specific gifts that are not taxable. • Certain gifts, called future interests, are not subject to the $19,000 annual exclusion and you must file Form 709 even if the gift was under $19,000. See Annual Exclusion, later. • Spouses may not file a joint gift tax return. Each individual is responsible to file a Form 709. • You must file a gift tax return to split gifts with your spouse (regardless of their amount) as described in Part III Spouse’s Consent on Gifts to Third Parties, later. • If a gift is of community property, it is considered made one-half by each spouse. For example, a gift of $100,000 of community property is considered a gift of $50,000 made by each spouse, and each spouse must file a gift tax return. • Likewise, each spouse must file a gift tax return if they have made a gift of property held by them as joint tenants or tenants by the entirety. • Only individuals are required to file gift tax returns. If a trust, estate, partnership, or corporation makes a gift, the individual beneficiaries, partners, or stockholders are considered donors and may be liable for the gift and GST taxes. • The donor is responsible for paying the gift tax. However, if the donor does not pay the tax, the person receiving the gift may have to pay the tax. • If a donor dies before filing a return, the donor’s executor must file the return. Who does not need to file. If you meet all of the following requirements, you are not required to file Form 709. • You made no gifts during the year to your spouse. • You did not give more than $19,000 to any one donee. • All the gifts you made were of present interests. Gifts to charities. If the only gifts you made during the year are deductible as gifts to charities, you do not need to file a return as long as you transferred your entire interest in the property to qualifying charities. If you transferred only a partial interest, or transferred part of your interest to someone other than a charity, you must still file a return and report all of your gifts to charities
Transfers Not Subject to the Gift Tax Four types of transfers are not subject to the gift tax. These are: • Transfers to political organizations, • Transfers to certain exempt organizations, • Payments that qualify for the educational exclusion, and • Payments that qualify for the medical exclusion.

I have three traditional IRAs. One was sourced from non-deductible contributions (balance about $200K) one was sourced from a 401K rollover (balance over $1M) and the third is a managed IRA sourced from the rollover (balance about $250K). In 2025, I withdrew $100K from the first referenced IRA and moved it to a Roth IRA. (This was my first contribution to a Roth). I have not made any contributions to these accounts for several years. As I enter the information into Turbo Tax, I get to the question... Enter the total value of all of your traditional IRA, SEP, and SIMPLE IRA accounts on December 31, 2025. This information is sent by mail on Form 5498. Do not include Roth IRAs. Is the amount to be entered the total balances in the THREE IRAs or just the one with the withdrawal? This makes a big difference in my refund. I understand that the $100K is taxable, but don't understand why the balance would affect the tax liability/refund amount. Also, it says the form will be mailed by May 31st which doesn't make any sense to me? Thanks in advance for the help. Brian

You do not need to report gifts to recognized charitable organizations unless you otherwise have to file Form 709 for non-charitable gifts.
