It’s past the 21 days to get my refund, but I have a notice on my TurboTax account that says I should expect it on the last week of February. There are only two more days in the week, so I just want to know how accurate that info is and if I should expect my refund in the next two days.
Please clarify what happens when you try to open Form 8829 in TurboTax. If you see an error message, please post a screenshot or provide the complete text.

No , as of now, the fix is scheduled to be updated on February 28. This is the date by which all major updates are to be completed. Meanwhile, a recommended fix is available that has proven effective in alleviating this issue.   To stop the "Withholding cannot be greater than distribution" error loop, you must manually populate the "State Distribution" field:   Open your 1099-R entry in TurboTax. Locate Box 16 (State Distribution). Even if this box is blank on your physical 1099-R form, you must fill it in. Enter the same amount from Box 1 (or Box 2a if that is the taxable amount) into Box 16. Save the entry and continue. The error message should disappear immediately.

Yes, here are your complete steps for entering these.   Sign in to your TurboTax account and open your return. Select the Federal tab from the left menu (or the top if using Desktop). Click on Wages & Income (sometimes called "Income & Expenses"). Scroll down to the Retirement Plans and Social Security section. Click Start or Revisit next to IRA, 401(k), Pension Plan Withdrawals (1099-R). Answer Yes to the question "Did you get a 1099-R in 2025?" Choose your entry method.   Select "Change how I enter my form" then "Type it in myself" to enter the boxes exactly as they appear on your paper form. Once your 1099R's are entered, now select state taxes and begin preaparing your Colorado State Tax form.   Go to State Taxes: Click on State Taxes and begin the Colorado resident return. Find Subtractions: Continue through the interview until you reach a screen titled "Any Subtractions from Income?" or "Here's the income that Colorado handles differently." Locate PERA/DPSRS: Look for the specific line labeled "PERA/DPSRS Subtraction" or "Previously Taxed PERA/DPS Retirement." Click Start or Edit. Assign to Spouse: TurboTax will typically ask "Who does this subtraction belong to?" or provide two columns. For You: Enter your previously taxed contribution amount. For Your Husband: Enter his previously taxed contribution amount. If you don't know your total previously taxed contributions (Step 1 above), you can find it by:   Logging into your secure PERA account. Looking at the "Taxes on PERA Benefits" letter or the initial "Benefit Estimate" you received when you retired. Calling PERA at 1-800-759-7372 to request a statement of your "tax-paid contributions.

the general reason for this is incorrect input of the 1099-R to identity it as a Roth conversion, if you review the Form 8606 generated for your return it is probably missing from Line 8.  You should go back thru the questions in the 1099-R section (which come after the input of the 1099-R details), and Traditional IRA sections.   the other reason would be you had a pre-tax balance in your IRA(s) as provided by the question for the market value as of 12/31/25, and therefore the backdoor Roth is partially taxable based on the pro-rata rule and that amount of your non-deductible contribution will be carried forward as basis in your IRA(s) for future years.   Here are the instructions how to enter Backdoor Roth in Turbotax https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/retirement-benefits/enter-backdoor-roth-ira-conversion/L7gGPjKVY_US_en_US   Once you've gone back through these inputs if you still have an issue, pls post more specifics on your situation and what is happening on Form 8606, and someone here will be able to help troubleshoot.

Once your return is filed, TurboTax has no control over the processing or the timing when the IRS releases your refund.    The IRS Where's My Refund site will not take into account the 5 days early, but if you signed up for the 5 Day Early product, you should receive your refund deposited 5 days prior to the date indicated by the IRS, assuming all conditions are met.   For more information click on the link below 5 Days Early Option   If you don't get your deposit 5 days early, there is a few reasons why that might happen.   Your refund was offset or differed from their estimated refund amount, bringing the refund amount below the minimum threshold or above the maximum. What is a refund offset? Your bank wouldn't accept RTP (Real Time Payments) or Same Day ACH deposits, preventing Intuit from depositing your refund 5 days ahead of when the IRS would have deposited your refund. The IRS didn't give Intuit 5 or more days of notice in advance. This stopped Intuit from meeting the 5 days early expectations. If TurboTax is unable to deliver the refund 5 days early, your order will be canceled and you won't be charged the 5-Day Early fee. You will receive a follow-up email with a refund and timing update, and if any cancellation is applicable.

Once your return is filed, TurboTax has no control over the processing or the timing when the IRS releases your refund.    The IRS states that most federal tax refunds are issued within 21 days of acceptance, however, some may take longer if they require additional review. Also, by law, the IRS cannot issue EITC or ACTC refunds before mid-February. This applies to your entire refund, not just the portion related to those specific credits.   Your refund could be offset. The IRS and State Governments have the ability to offset a refund to pay for certain past due debts.  You generally will receive a letter stating what the offset was for.    The IRS provides a toll-free number, (800) 304-3107, to call for information about tax offsets.   Here are a few FAQs to help you track your refund: When will I get my federal tax refund? How do I track my state refund? Why does Where's My Refund say "approved" but TurboTax still says "accepted"? Why do some refunds take longer than others? What if my IRS refund is taking longer than 21 days?

Yes, you are correct. f TurboTax is using 7% for the first half of the year (when it should be 8%) and 8% for the second half (when it should be 7%), it is miscalculating your penalty. Depending on when your underpayments occurred, this could either cost you extra or leave you under-penalized (which the FTB will eventually correct and bill you for).   Since you cannot manually edit the interest rates in the TurboTax interview, you do have an option to let the FTB calcualte for you. You are generally not required to file Form 5805. The FTB’s systems are programmed with the correct rates and they will calculate the penalty for you automatically.    In TurboTax: Go to the Underpayment Penalty section in the California interview. The Choice: Select the option that says "I want the Franchise Tax Board to calculate my penalty and send me a bill." The benefit to this is that it removes Form 5805 from your return entirely. If you actually owe a penalty, they will send you a notice. If the penalty is small, they may waive it entirely.  This is an advantage to you because you might lose if you calculate and pay it yourself.   I
