Sorry for your loss.   You should not be using the same account that was used for past year joint tax returns.   You need a new account for yourself and a new user ID.   It is too difficult to remove all of the embedded spouse information from an account that was previously used for joint returns.   Your filing status should now be Single, unless you have remarried, or unless you still have dependent children.   For the first year that your spouse passed, you could file a joint return.   After that, if you had dependent children you could file as a qualified surviving spouse for two more years.  Without dependent children, you file Single.

Did you file returns for tax year 2021 and 2022? If the IRS is requiring you to file those returns they will not release any refund for 2024 until that requirement is met. Once you file those returns, if you really do owe, they can take it out of your 2024 refund. What they calculated for 2022 may not be correct because you may have had deductions or credits they didn't apply to your income.

2025?   No, you cannot amend it yet, even if you think there is no option.  Sorry.   Did you click that big orange button that said “Transmit my return now?”  If you did that, you cannot do anything to fix it yet.  You have to wait for the email that tells you if your return was accepted or rejected.   Since the IRS will not begin to accept/reject returns until January 26, you are going to be waiting in “pending” for awhile.  Your return is sitting on a server, where you cannot fix  it or get it back.   You cannot change or add anything on the return that you just e-filed, nor can you stop it.  It is too late, just like when you put an envelope in a US mailbox on the corner.  The IRS does not allow you to take it back.   If you left out a W-2, a 1099G, or a dependent, or a 1099 etc…DO NOT change your return while it is “pending.”  The changes will go nowhere.   Now you have to wait until the IRS either rejects or accepts your return.  If your return is rejected, you will be able to go into your account and make the necessary changes to your tax return and re-submit your return.     If the IRS accepts your return, however, then you have to wait longer until it has been fully processed and you have received your refund.  THEN you can prepare an amended tax return and e-file or mail  it in. You have to be able to work from that return exactly the way it was when it was e-filed originally.  You will need to use a form called a 1040X.     Meanwhile, DO NOT go in and start changing anything on your return in the system, or you will make a mess for yourself.  Sit tight and wait until you see what the IRS does with the return you just e-filed   The Form 1040X you need becomes available in late February,  But wait until your return has been processed.
Ok it’s making sense now. Obviously I don’t want to do anything that will cause problems in the future but at the same time want what I deserve.

Very sorry for your loss.   Dealing with all of the aftermath when a family member passes is confusing and difficult.   Since you paid the property tax in January 2026, it gets entered on a 2026 tax return; you do not enter anything about it on your 2025 return.

To edit the gross income on a 1099 form you have already entered, you have to return to the specific section where that income was entered.   Sign in to your TurboTax Online account. Select Wages & Income from the left-side menu. Scroll down to the Self-Employment section and select Show More, then click Start or Revisit next to Self-employment income and expenses. On the Your 2025 self-employed work summary page, select Review next to the specific business associated with the 1099. Scroll down to the Income section and select Review or Edit next to the line for 1099-NEC or 1099-MISC. You will see a list of forms you’ve entered. Select the pencil icon (Edit) next to the form you need to change. Correct the amount in the Box 1 (for 1099-NEC) or Box 3 (for 1099-MISC) field and select Continue until you return to the summary page.

My husband passed away several years ago. I am using the same TurboTax account to file returns.  My TurboTax Profile still shows his SSN. How can I update my profile to show my SSN?

You answered a question incorrectly in MY INFO.     Go back to MY INFO, click the child’s name  and go through all of the interview questions carefully and slowly.  Read every screen top to bottom.     Make sure you have entered your child as a dependent in My Info, and that you have entered the child's Social Security number.    Careful— do not say that your child’s SSN is not valid for employment.  If your child was born in 2025 make sure you said he lived with you the whole year.  There is an oddly worded question that asks if the child paid over half their own support.  Say NO to that question.

Earlier drafts of form 1040 suggested that the "No Tax on Tips" deduction would be above-the-line and reflected in AGI. But now that it is a below-the-line deduction and only affects federal taxable income, there is no appropriate line on M1M to make the adjustment (other than the blank line 38). There is also nothing on M1NC.
