Thanks, but I am well aware of Taxcaster..... I was only trying to let Intuit know that I was unhappy with this change... As did many others.... I would appreciate it if you dropped off of this post.... See more...

Turbo tax is populating the incorrect county for my address. But there is no option to enter the correct county.

The deduction for seniors is gradually reduced if Modified Adjusted Gross Income (MAGI) is over $75,000 ($150,000 if married filing jointly), so if your income is over that amount you will not get the full $6,000 per person. If MAGI is $175,000 or more ($250,000 if married filing jointly) the deduction is eliminated completely. MAGI for purposes of this deduction is Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) plus the Foreign Earned Income Exclusion, Foreign Housing Exclusion or Deduction, and excluded income from sources in Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa, and the Northern Mariana Islands. For most people MAGI will be the same as AGI.

There are a couple questions you could have answered wrong under My Info.  Click on My Info then click Edit by Dependents, then click Edit by their name and go though all the screens again.   First of all check their date of birth.  Also you need to enter a ssn for them.  And say her ssn is valid for employment.   If your child was away at college, count the number of months away as having lived with you.  The correct answer to claim the person is to say "the whole year". This will indicate you supported the person the whole year, thus it will be entered on your return correctly showing up as a dependent   Or the one that says did your CHILD pay more than half of their support.  It's not asking if you did.   If you can't get it to change then try completely deleting them and re-entering them.  Sometimes that helps to clear something out.

I have been in the US for 365 days every year for the past three years (2023, 2024, 2025) on H-1B visa, and have been using 1040 to file my taxes. So this year I sold my property on Jan 12th, which doesn't make me meet the substantial presence test rule #1 that having to be in the US for at least 31 days in current year since it's Jan 12 is 12 days only; so should I have FIRPTA applied to me or not?   Thanks

I am well aware of that.  I have always been able to manually enter the 1099R info prior to all changes are in Turbo Tax.  With doing that, I get a very good look at what it will look like when all changes are in...fyi, I am also aware of the tax changes so I account for that in my projected calculations...... My intent for the original post was simply to state that Turbo Tax was different in that respect (and many users have agreed....) not to be preached to about paying quarterly taxes on time.
Check out H&R Block Deluxe Federal & State on-sale on newegg and amazon.
You are correct. If the unearned income of more than $2,700 but less than $10,000 is the child's only income for the year he is not required to file a New Jersey tax return.

Earlier yr SS benefits TP is the amount in box 5 of your SSA-1099 for the earlier year. See my reply to your other question about box 5 for more details.
Change in the tax laws is the reason for the delay. Even the IRS website does not have all the forms and instructions or worksheets for 2025 posted.
