@debiowen4 Well....I just became aware that TT opened the system up to e-filing today, so maybe you really did e-file. If so, that is unfortunate, since your return is all wrong, and it is going to sit on a server for several weeks until the IRS begins to accept returns at the end of the month. There is nothing you can do to change your messed up return that has 2024 information on 2025 forms. You will need to wait for the IRS to either accept or reject the return. If they reject it, you can then go in and carefully delete the 2024 information and enter 2025 information instead, and re-file the return when all of your correct 2025 data has been entered. If the IRS accepts the incorrect return you just e-filed (unlikely) then you will have to wait for them to process it fully and then amend it by preparing a Form 1040X---which you will not be able to do much sooner than late February.
Meanwhile....if you need to file a 2024 tax return, follow the instructions give in the earlier reply and use desktop download software for 2024.

You will get a 1099R for that. You need to wait for all your tax forms to come in the mail. They have until Jan 31 to mail it to you or you can usually get it online by logging into your pension account. Oh the 1099R input section is not ready yet. Enter a 1099R under Federal Taxes Wages & Income Then scroll way down to Retirement Plans and Social Security Then IRA, 401(k), Pension Plan Withdrawals (1099-R) – Click Start

Yes we just found out that Turbo Tax opened on Jan 6 again this year. If it didn't offer you the Advance before you filed it is too late to apply.

I manually enter my Vanguard consolidated 1099 tax form. Yes you need to double check anything that you import. Are you using the Online version or the Desktop program? You should be able to fix anything that imported wrong or is missing. Did you get your 1099 yet from Vanguard? It might not come out until mid to late February. Maybe last year you imported early and later there was a corrected 1099 from Vanguard.

Vanguard has moved to issuing a combined form for individual investors since 2023. What they are reporting to the IRS does not jive with what TurboTax pulls from them for your taxes. Looking for others who have run up against this from 2023 and probably 2024, as well. How did you correct what was input into TT or exactly how did you fix the issue.

Let me rephrase my situation. I completed and submitted my taxes early, as I do every year. They are in line for the day e-file opens for acceptance. I appreciate the response.

My boyfriend and I were together 9 years, with five kids. 3 his and 2 mine. We always just claimed our own children. Now that we’re separated and one of his children that I raised (age 10) lives with me full time and I get no aid or child support for her. He isn’t even involved anymore. Do I need a form from him releasing her to be able to be claimed by me as a qualifying relative?

If, in fact, TT has opened e-filing today unbeknownst to the "Champs"----if you actually e-filed, sorry, you cannot get the advance after e-filing.

E-filing is not open yet, so you could not have "just filed." If the advance loan was not offered to you, then for some reason you did not qualify.
In January there will be a refund advance loan that you may be eligible for when you are ready to file; no money is issued to you until your e-file is accepted by the IRS. The IRS will not begin to accept 2025 e-files until late January.

No Tax on Overtime
For tax years 2025 through 2028, individuals who receive qualified overtime compensation may deduct the pay that exceeds their regular rate of pay (generally, the “half” portion of “time-and-a-half” compensation) that is required by the Fair Labor Standards Act and reported on a Form W-2, Form 1099, or other specified statement furnished to the individual.
Maximum annual deduction is $12,500 ($25,000 for joint filers).
Deduction phases out for taxpayers with modified adjusted gross income over $150,000 ($300,000 for joint filers).
The deduction is available for both itemizing and non-itemizing taxpayers.
IRS website - https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/treasury-irs-provide-guidance-for-individuals-who-received-tips-or-overtime-during-tax-year-2025
The no tax on overtime is calculated on Schedule 1-A (Part III) and the amount flows to Form 1040 Line 13b
Schedule 1-A is estimated to be finalized and available in TurboTax on 01/14/2026

In order to file as Head of Household, YOU must have a qualified dependent, not just live with someone else who has a dependent of their own.

What is a "qualifying person" for Head of Household?
If you qualify as Head of Household, when you enter your marital status (single or married filing separately) into MyInfo, and then enter your qualifying dependent, TurboTax will offer HOH as your filing status.

@brenick1 Huh? I bought my Windows Home & Business program from Costco online on 12/1/25. When I finally got the Software Activation Keys email (email took an hour) I clicked on Download link. It took me directly to Turbo Tax to download. Had to pick my product then select Win or Mac. Program downloaded. Check back though your emails and the junk or spam folder. Here's my email. If you got the License Code from Costco you can get the download here, https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/cd-download/install-turbotax
