The form IS available for e-file! But it's coded wrong. And clearly not tested at all, otherwise this obvious error wouldn't be showing up for so many people. ie The program is not filling in the checkboxes correctly. So I have to agree with a previous poster. This really shakes my faith in Intuit. I wonder what is actually being transmitted to the IRS. Is it just garbled junk?

To access your tax returns (current or prior year) you will sign into the TurboTax website with the user ID you used to create the account - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/   Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and on the section Your tax returns & documents click on Show.  Click on the Year and Click on Download/print return (PDF)   As an alternative for current year return, when you sign onto your online account and land on the Tax Home web page, scroll down and click on Add a State (You will not really be adding a state).    This will take you back in to the 2025 online tax return.   Click on Tax Tools on the left side of the online program screen.  Find the Print Center and choose the year you want to print.  If you want your full return including worksheets, choose the option Include government and TurboTax worksheets.   In TurboTax Online, follow these steps to print/view your return and all of the informational worksheets after you have filed:   Sign in to TurboTax Scroll down to Your Tax Returns & Documents Select 2024 and then Add a State (You aren't actually adding a State but this gets you back into the Print Center) From the left panel Select Tax Tools, scroll down a little and select Print Center Select Print, save or preview this year's return Select the 2024 Federal and/or State return box Choose to Include TurboTax and government worksheets Select View or Print Forms
Thank you for such prompt reply!  The drop down does not allow a blank response.  You must choose a state, and again TX is not there as an option.

I have filed my 2025 taxes on multiple occasions. Each time has resulted in rejection. I have reviewed TT reported error and can find no issue with my input. I have been told by TT to wait until March 6th to refile my returns. There appears to be a software issue at TT that involves Form 5695. When will this problem be resolved?   Sam C.

Hi, I'm trying to install TT Deluxe on a PC which has TT Premier already installed. The Premier version is on a different User Account than I'm trying to install Deluxe on. I've tried different suggestions from searches, such as; Open Turbo Tax-->Products & Billing-->Enter Second License Code-->Choose Windows etc... Supposedly this let's you add and activate a new license without uninstalling the current software. I'm unable to navigate to anything that says Products & Billing. Please advise and thank you for your time.

Hello! First, I'm sorry for your loss and also for the neverending work of buttoning up an estate. You can't appreciate it until you experience it. I'm digging pretty deeply into some fuzzy memory here, but as I recall, it really did turn out to be an absolutely ridiculous tax code imperfection, and I really did have to pay the taxes on it. It all came down to how the date of her passing fell in comparison to her SS check issue date. In our case, she passed on the evening of the 14th, and her check was issued on the 15th (due to how the SSA staggers monthly deposit dates based on birth date). That's all it took to make the IRS consider the entire month my income instead of hers. If she'd died a few hours later on the 15th, no taxes would have been due. OR, if she had been born a few days earlier within her birth month, no taxes would have been due because the check would have been issued on the 8th (before she died). So, it comes down to pure chance... half the taxpayers in this situation get a free gift from the government, and the other half get screwed. And it would be so easy to fix this if the IRS would prorate. The only caveat to what I've written here is that I only know what was true in 2022. I seriously doubt anything has changed, but can't guarantee. But that's what I know. I wish I had better news.

As noted, TurboTax does not have a mechanism to remove the excess employer contributions from your income, except as adding it to line 8f on Schedule 1 (1040). But if you think about it, it doesn't really need to.    As noted, the total employers' HSA contribution is removed when your W-2 is printed from Wages in boxes 1, 3, and 5, so, of course, when some of these contributions are discovered to be excess, then they must be added back to your income.   One way to do that is to get a corrected W-2 in which the Wages amount is increased by the amount of the excess. However, employers may refuse to do this, since in many cases, they had no way of knowing that this level of contribution was in excess - i.e., it wasn't their fault so why should they fix it?   Leaving the W-2 alone, and just adding the excess to line 8f is really simpler for everyone. You have to pay income tax on the excess amount anyway, so it makes no difference to your tax bill if your W-2 is corrected or if the excess is added to line 8f on Schedule 1 (1040).   "“Great! We’ll remove this amount and the extra tax from your return.” "   This could be better phrased since this amount (the excess contributions) have to be added into your taxable income.

If you claim your daughter as a dependent, you only can claim her education credits by entering her form 1098-T on your tax return.   It doesn't matter who paid your tuition.   The following is an extract of an IRS document:   Who can claim a dependent's education expenses.   If a student is claimed as a dependent on another person's tax return, all qualified education expenses of the student are treated as having been paid by that person. Therefore, only that person can claim an education credit for the student. If a student is not claimed as a dependent on another person's tax return, only the student can claim a credit.   To enter your form 1098-T in TurboTax Online, follow these steps:   Open your tax return Click on Federal in the left panel then Deductions & Credits Navigate to the list of Deductions and Credits Select Start next to Education expenses and Scholarships  Choose the Student from the list of family members. Or if the student has already been added, click on  Edit next to the name of the student.  Continue the interview and after a few screens, answer Yes on the page Did you get a 1098-T for the year 2025?

Yes, you can enter MI tax withheld from a flow-through entity that was reported to you. Open your return and navigate to Wages & Income >> Deductions & Credits >> Estimates and Other Taxes Paid >> Estimates >> State estimated taxes for 20XX. Add another payment. Choose Michigan from the drop-down, enter the date paid, and the amount. Continue to view the confirmation page, then click Done. This entry will be reported on the MI Tax Payments Worksheet under Tax Payments for the Current Year and flow to Form MI-1040 Line 32.   Although this work-around omits the K-1 reporting, you will report the state tax paid on your behalf to reduce your state tax liability (if any). We are not aware of any changes in the software for this issue before the filing deadline.

You can enter the donation of like items to the same charity on different dates. Just make sure you separate out donations to different charitable organizations and donations of different types of items.   Note that total non-cash charitable donations of more than $500 require Form 8283, which will include the name and address of the charity and details about the donated property, including the description, date acquired, how much you paid for it, and the current fair market value.   See this TurboTax article about Form 8283 for additional information.

Are you sure you are entering it in the right place?   Here are two ways to navigate to the section to enter the 6 digit IP PIN:     Log in and open your return ("Take me to my return")  Once the return is open, then go to the Federal Taxes tab.  Subtab Other Tax Situations  Scroll down to Other Return Info.  Choose Identity Protection PIN and Start (or Revisit.)  Next screen asks:  "Did you or any of your dependents get an IP PIN from the IRS for this year's taxes?"  Or another way:  Open your return if not already open.  ("Take me to my return.")  Once the return is open, click at the top on MY ACCOUNT, then choose TOOLS.  In the Tools window choose TOPIC SEARCH.  Enter IP PIN without quotes.  In the selection list highlight IP PIN and click GO.  Next screen asks:  "Did you or any of your dependents get an IP PIN from the IRS for this year's taxes?"

Wonderufl, thanks, but can you please clarify:  There are TWO different items that can end up blank in a return - FORMS and WORKSHEETS.  I'm having both.  There's a common issue with a blank 8815 form being added incorrectly, and a 2555T form as well.  And now I'm also seeing a blank Earned Income worksheet for the first time.  Will this tool safely REMOVE both blank/unused forms AND worksheets from a return?
