Yes. it was exactly so. I thought that it was more of a account management issue rather then tax question, as well. Just wondered if anyone else had gone through the same situation and had an answer. The Desktop that I wanted to work on was still operating on Window 10 and it wasn't up to me to upgrade. That's why I choose ONLINE version initially. But then again, I wanted to be safer and secure for however much... The problem is solved. I just downloaded the software on my Laptop (w Window 11) and it gave me the option of continuing with DESKTOP version. Thanks!

Did you use direct debit from your bank account for payment of the taxes when you were completing the 2024 tax return using TurboTax? If so, the payment would have been debited from your bank account by the IRS if the IRS received your tax return.
Did you e-file your tax return and was it accepted? Only the IRS and your State control when and if a Federal or State tax refund is Approved and Issued.
You complete your tax return by finishing all 3 Steps in the File section. In Step 3, to e-file your tax return, you must click on the large button labeled "Transmit my returns now".
After completing the File section and e-filing your tax return you will receive two emails from TurboTax. The first email when your tax return was transmitted and the second email when the tax return has either been accepted or rejected.
Note - Once a tax return has been Accepted by the IRS or a State, TurboTax receives no further information concerning the tax return or the status of any tax refund. Only the taxpayer listed on the tax return can obtain the status of a tax refund or a tax return.
To check the status of an e-filed return, open up your desktop product or log into your TurboTax Online Account. You can find your status within the TurboTax product.

TurboTax never knows how, when or even if you paid your tax due. TT receives no information from the IRS after you file your tax return. TT would never know if you actually mailed a check, if the check bounced, if you used a credit card that was declined, etc. Your only proof that you paid your tax due is your own bank statement or credit card statement. Do you have that?

For context, I filed my taxes on time for the 2024 tax season. Yes I did make the payment. The app even says I did. But I’m getting letters from the IRS saying they haven’t received a payment. I’m going through some old mail today as I do ant the end of every year and that’s when I found the letters. I can’t even ask a live agent for help until I select a package for this upcoming tax season. Which hasn’t even started yet!

If you have one mortgage, and didn't change lenders in the middle of the year, and didn't have an HELOC with a changing balance, the calculation is pretty easy, using the method in the publication. You can do the calculations and send the IRS a letter of explanation with proof of your work (if the IRS was wrong) or you can do an amended return and just use the correct number from the worksheet instead of letter TT calculate it, if TT was wrong.
To see what TT did, there should be an internal program worksheet that you should probably be able to see if you download the PDF containing "all forms and worksheets." However, if you started the amending process, you might have changed your file so that the current state of the worksheet doesn't match what was filed.

You CANNOT FILE your taxes until TurboTax officially starts accepting returns and the IRS starts accepting returns for filing (the latter would be toward the end of this month - call it at least 3 weeks from now).

yes online has different pricing tiers for different schedules, it can be more expensive than desktop and you can only do 1 return per account. also as you may be aware by now the workflow is different, there is no forms mode. there was an offer 2025 if you bought the desktop version, to be able to upgrade to online premium for Fed and State at no extra cost, see article & screenshot below. https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/articles/community-news-announcements/turbotax-windows-10-desktop-software-end-of-life/05/3708302 no one here can resolve a billing issue tho, you'd need to call Turbotax support and see whether you can switch to this other offer or get a refund for online in these circumstances (say "billing" when you call I think). Otherwise I think they regard the 'online' product purchased thru a retailer as non-refundable, see here. https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/intuit-refunds/request-refund-turbotax-product/L834M6uyW_US_en_US How do I contact TurboTax? What exactly are you trying to do for 2024? If you need to file a tax return for 2024 you have to use the desktop TurboTax software for 2024. You can purchase a download at the following link.
Past Years' Products
The desktop TurboTax software can only be used on a Windows or Mac computer, not on a mobile device or a Chromebook.

Got a notice that there was an error on my 2024 return for the Home Mortgage Interest Deduction calculation. I did go into the Amend return to see if I entered the correct amount that was on my Mortgage statement and I did. My mortgage is over $750k so I am not entitled to the full deduction but I can't see how Turbo Tax calculated the amount it used (which was less than the full amount that I entered in so Turbo Tax did reduce it). I can't get anyone on the phone to help me figure out if the calculation was right or not - any idea how I can get someone on the phone to help me with this 2024 calculation?

I spoke to Charles Schwab. They said to talk to Turbo Tax. I cannot reach anyone at TT despite paying for AuditDefense (I am not being audited) but TT's AI does NOT show what it recommends to click on.
