You mean the new 6,000 Senior Deduction? It is automatic based on your age. It is not part of your Standard Deduction. The new Senior Deduction is separate and in addition to the Standard Deduction or your Itemized Deductions on 1040 line 12e. The 6,000/12,000 senior deduction will be calculated on 1040 Schedule 1-A page 2 Part V Enhanced Deduction for Seniors which goes to 1040 line 13b with any other sch 1-A amounts. Turbo Tax automatically includes it if you qualify. If you are married you have to file a Joint return.
For Online version You can preview the 1040 or print the whole return https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/accessing/help/how-do-i-preview-my-turbotax-online-return-before-filing/00/26160

You cannot change or add anything on the return that you just e-filed, nor can you stop it. It is too late, just like when you put an envelope in a US mailbox on the corner. The IRS does not allow you to take it back.
If you left out a W-2, a 1099G, or a dependent, or a 1099 etc…DO NOT change your return while it is “pending.” The changes will go nowhere.
Now you have to wait until the IRS either rejects or accepts your return. If your return is rejected, you will be able to go into your account and make the necessary changes to your tax return and re-submit your return.
If the IRS accepts your return, however, then you have to wait longer until it has been fully processed and you have received your refund. THEN you can prepare an amended tax return and e-file or mail it in. You have to be able to work from that return exactly the way it was when it was e-filed originally. You will need to use a form called a 1040X.
Meanwhile, DO NOT go in and start changing anything on your return in the system, or you will make a mess for yourself. Sit tight and wait until you see what the IRS does with the return you just e-filed
The Form 1040X you need becomes available in late February, But wait until your return has been processed.

I'm having an issue with the calculation for tips on the Qualified Tips Smart Worksheet for Schedule 1-A, Part II. Here's what the information shows: Line B 1 - Net Profit is entered. Line B 2 - Other Deductions which is the adjustments to income Schedule 1, Line 26 Line B 3 - Calculated the Net Income for the business by subtracting Line B from A. Line C e - My tip amount is correctly enteered. It exceeds BOTH my Net Profit (Line B 1) and my Net Income (Line B 2). Line G - TT has entered in my NET INCOME from Line B 3. It also has the box checked with an X. This amount is incorrect. It should be the NET PROFIT from Line B 1. What am I missing? Please advise.

We are not able to reproduce this experience but are willing to research this further if you can send us a “diagnostic” file that has your “numbers” but not your personal information.
Open your return and go to Online in the top menu, then choose "Send Tax File to Agent."
You will see a message explaining what the diagnostic copy is. Click okay through this screen and then you will get a Token number.
Reply to this thread with your Token number and tag (@) the Expert who requested it. This will allow us to open a copy of your return without seeing any personal information.
We will attempt to determine the cause of your experience and possibly provide you with a resolution.

No, that is not an issue with the IRS. Many people have income in one year and in another year have no income. It is not a flag for the IRS.

I was on the phone with a Turbotax representative for 30 minutes with no firm resolution. MarilynG1 listed suggestions that don't work. First of all not everyone is using a VPN and you aren't going to disable things every time you attempt to use the product. The activation request is random and does not occur all the time. I am now up to 3 of 5. She references their activation server so I would expect that someone there should be able to look at the activation server or ask IT what they use to identify a unique device. It is extremely frustrating.

This is my exact problem, too. The same thing happened last year & it went through the second time with no issues. This year, when I fixed the problem, transmitted the return & my TurboTax software desktop just shuts down. Please don’t tell me I have to file on paper! That’s ridiculous! TT needs to fix this!

@cjoyahall Sometimes one can upload a PDF file or a 1099-R form (it's not "attached") ..BUT...the tax software A.I. has to interpret what's in the various boxes and sometimes gets it wrong...badly/massively wrong like putting a state distribution in the state withholding box...resulting in a massive state refund. ......so typing the data in is far safer.
