Please see this FAQ for more specifics to assist as there are several options that could apply and each situation may differ slightly for tax return purposes.     For the portion of time you were insured privately through your employer, you will not need to report anything on your tax return.  You only need to report the portion of time you were covered through the Marketplace.

Hi. I need to take a 401k withdrawal under the domestic abuse victim option. I am not sure if I will be divorced by the end of 2025 tax season and still may need to file 2025 taxes as married filing jointly. I do not want my husband to know I took this type of withdrawal, he will be furious. Will this be coded as a regular early withdrawal from my 401k on the 1099r or will it be coded as something different that he can look up the code and see it is domestic violence related?    I am not looking to be judged. I just need to keep this info away from him because I cannot handle him blowing up about it.  Thank you in advance.

No.  Since you are paid with a W-2, you are considered an employee and would not be eligible to treat the activity as self-employed income.  There is an Educator Expense deduction that you are entitled to.  Please see this link for more details.   If you have other jobs where you do receive a 1099-NEC, then you would be able to claim those expenses incurred as part of earning the 1099 income as being attributable to self-employment.  Please see what self-employed expenses can I deduct?

The window where you request this may simply need to be resized. Make it bigger and scroll down and I would bet the 'Save to PDF' and 'Priant Preview' buttons might then show.

If you expand the size of the print center window you will see the 'Save to PDF' and 'Print Preview' buttons. The issue is that since WA state does not have a state income tax, the message on the lower right hand corner advising of this takes too much space, thus placing the 'Save to PDF' and ' Print Preview' button out of view. Once expanded in size, you are good to go. Hope this helps!

You don't calculate the taxable portion. You calculate the amount that is from U.S. Government securities. It is simply the total ordinary dividends from 1099-DIV box 1a multiplied by the percentage that is from U.S. Government securities, as stated by the fund company. In the federal income section of TurboTax, after you enter the 1099-DIV, the next screen says "Tell us if any of these uncommon situations apply." Check the box that says "A portion of these dividends is U.S. Government interest." One or two screens later there is a box to enter the U.S. Government interest amount that you calculated. The amount flows to the New Jersey tax return, and TurboTax will make the adjustment on the New Jersey return.

I am a teacher, always paid monthly and receive a W2 at the end of the year.  I want to claim my profession as Self-Employed.  I can come and go as I please and work for different school districts, can I file as self-employed and take the deductions that come with that declaration?
Is "failed" a typo?  Do you mean you "filed"?   What do you mean by that?   What kind of income did you enter?  And did you actually e-file or not?
IRS Transcripts: If you cannot locate your return through TurboTax, you can request a tax transcript from the IRS website.
TurboTax and the IRS save returns for seven years; after that they are gone.

Going forward...make sure you print out a copy for yourself every year. IF you download as a PDF file, you can also save that to USB flash drive, and keep in a safe place. (Computers crash/replaced etc.....so keep a copy of the PDF on a USB every year) ____________ 1)  If you've used the TTX "Online" software every year, you can get/download/save the past 7 yrs of PDF files now. 2)  If you've used the TTX "desktop" software every year, you those files are only on that computer, so keep backup copies of the PDF file.  (the tax datafiles can only be read by the software, and only the last 3 years can be loaded and used..so the PPDFs are critical)
If your refund went down you owe the difference, because 1040 and 1040-X are processed separately.   @Beckettk75
