In 2024 I received 4 1099-G for tax year 2023, 2022, 2021, 2020.  In all tax years (2020 to 2023) and this year 2024, I used standard deduction.    I pulled the 2024 IRS wage and income report, and... See more...
In 2024 I received 4 1099-G for tax year 2023, 2022, 2021, 2020.  In all tax years (2020 to 2023) and this year 2024, I used standard deduction.    I pulled the 2024 IRS wage and income report, and I can see that all the 1099-G are in the IRS wage and income report.  After entering the 1099-G, turbotax put all the refund as 2024 income and I am liable for higher tax.    Is this correctly use turbotax to report state refund for standard deduction for the corresponding tax year refund?
I am totally confused with the process now. Do I file a 1099 misc for my rental MGT fees that I receive? as " other income" or do I file a 1099 NEC...perhaps mispelled that?
You can calculate your AMT income using Part I of the form.  If you are not subject to AMT, TurboTax does not include on your return.
no state state taxes
He can e-file his return, and as long as you include the IP PIN on your return, you shouldn't have to wait to send yours.     @dmp13

Been divorced several years.  My child is a college student living in an apartment year round.  My ex claimed him as a dependent to be able to claim head of household and other deductions.   Our child is 18+ and the agreement of when she'd claim him and when I'd be able to claim him is over.   I pay well in excess of 50% of his expenses.  Tuition, healthcare, housing, etc.  Turbo Tax is forcing me to file single.   My returns are being rejected due to she filed before me and claimed him on her taxes.  How can I update this so that I can show Head of Household and get the deductions?
Both pending amounts will not post. One will fall off.

@avadventurespllc  from your post "   Taxpayer TIN in the Return Header must not be the same as a TIN of a previously accepted electronic return for the return type and tax period indicated in the tax return. "  says to me the rejection is because  you are using a TIN/SSN asking for extension  when  a return with the same TIN has been accepted for processing. What do you mean a business  return using the same TIN.    A business return   cannot have the same TIN as the owner  if it has a separate existence ) because a  self-standing entity will be filed not on 1040. You can see I am very confused as to what you have done -- please can you explain ? At the same time ,and despite the rejection,  you can still file your return as soon as you are able to --  an accepted extension really does not change anything  as long as you file  before Oct. 15th  ( to avoid  failure to file penalty ).   Will circle back once I hear from you.

I'm assuming that the problem is that the social security number on the 15400 is your wife's and the one on the 8936 is yours.     The fix for that is to go back to the very beginning of your tax return where you entered the personal information about the two of you.  You entered yourself first and then you entered your wife second.  You need to switch those two people.  So delete the information on the first person about yourself and replace it with your wife's information.  Then delete the information about your wife in the second spot and replace it with information about yourself.     That will make sure that her information gets entered on the 8936 and it will match the 15400 and you should be all set.   @anynyheik

If you have not e-filed yet--stop.  You should pay the $25 state e-file fee with a credit card instead of choosing to pay it from your federal refund.   If you choose to pay from your refund, you are allowing the federal refund to go first to a third party bank.  That banks takes out the $25 you owe to TurboTax, pockets $45 for itself, and sends the rest of the refund to you.  YOU DO NOT HAVE TO DO THAT.   Pay upfront with your own debit or credit card before you e-file.  Look really closely at the screens that led up to that.   You can choose to pay using a credit card instead of from your refund.

If the working days calculation is not working properly, you could choose YES on the 'Apportionment' page and you'll come  to a screen where you can enter your actual Pennsylvania income.  You can enter the amount of PA income you calculated as 'business income' on the screen prior.   First, indicate your W-2 income carried over from Federal is 'taxable in PA'.  Then   @manydogs  @CindyNWT

Thanks for the screen shot.  There is a separate fee to efile the state return.  In the Desktop program you get one free state PROGRAM download to prepare unlimited state returns. Then each state return (including the first one) is $25 to efile. Or you can print and mail state for free.  Then you got a $10 rebate from the store which is automatically applied to the $25 fee so the fee is only $15.   Then you selected to have the fee deducted from your refund.  There is an Extra $40 Refund Processing Service charge (45 in California) for that which you can avoid by paying the state efile fee with a credit card.   Go back through the File tab.  You  have to be careful what you click on when you file, go slowly. There is one screen that can trip you up. People get going to fast and click the bottom right button to continue. But to pay by credit card you need to check the Left button.

Thank you, but what I'm trying to say is that the gross amount the state came up with was nearly double what my gross income was last year, which I was baffled about.  The only other doc I included was a 1098-T with a couple of textbook expenses.  I'm trying to figure out how that number could've been so high when that gross figure wasn't included on the federal return.  (~15k vs ~29k)

As one casualty loss.  You need to keep track of everything that you lost as well as the replacement costs but for the purposes of putting it on your tax return it will be one big number.  You will retain all of the back up documentation in case you are ever questioned about it.  The one big number is your casualty loss, less your insurance reimbursement.   @RPS2020
