I moved on to FreeTaxUSA. I was able to do my estimates for the year and adjust my W2 withholdings. It is FREE and UI is so much better than TT. No more purchasing TT for me.

Only you can access your tax returns.   To access your current or prior year online tax returns sign onto the TurboTax website with the User ID you used to create the account - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/ Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and on the section Your tax returns & documents.  Click on the Year and Click on Download/print return (PDF)   If you used the desktop CD/Download editions installed on your computer, the only copy of your tax data file and any PDF's will be on the computer where the return was created.  TurboTax does not store online any returns completed using the desktop editions.
Ditto all the complaints about TT not ready to do preliminaries before the 12/31 deadlines. Has anybody requested a refund, so you can move over to another software provider?

I am a content creator. My content revolves solely around my children’s athletic journeys (training, tournaments, competitions, and travel). I know I can deduct some business related travel expenses when filing taxes but can I list my children’s tuition for training and tournament fees as deductions, also? Training sessions and tournaments are always documented and used for content. Also, I don’t know if this is relevant or helpful information but I will be receiving a 1099 and my children’s fictious names are all listed as DBAs under my LLC.

You can no longer use TurboTax Online to file for 2024. TurboTax Online is only for the current tax year, which is now 2025. To file for 2024 you have to use the desktop TurboTax software for 2024. You can purchase a download at the following link. Past Years' Products The desktop TurboTax software can only be used on a Windows or Mac computer, not on a mobile device or a Chromebook. Tax returns for past years cannot be e-filed. You will have to print your 2024 tax return, sign it, and file it by mail. When you file by mail you have to attach copies of your W-2s and any W-2G or 1099-R that has tax withheld. We suggest that you mail it by certified mail with a return receipt so that you get tracking and confirmation of delivery. Mail your federal and state tax returns in separate envelopes, because they go to different places. Follow the filing instructions that TurboTax prints.

Agree! I will be looking elsewhere. Sad, I have been using TurboTax for over a decade!

This answer assumes your previous returns were prepared in Online TurboTax.   Any return prepared in desktop TurboTax will not be in an Online account.  Here's how one would normally find past-year online returns and how to troubleshoot for multiple accounts (User IDs) if necessary.  Many people end up with more than 1 account.  The pathway to download the PDF or tax data file depends on whether or not you have started an online 2025 return.  I provide both scenarios below, so choose which one is appropriate for your situation.   If you have not yet started a 2025 online return: Sign in to your account.   What you see next depends on whether or not you have already started a 2025 return in that account.   If your left column menu is minimal, and does not have a Tax Home tab displayed, that would imply you have not started preparing a 2025 return in that account.  If you haven't yet started a return, it will start asking you some questions.  Answer those preliminary questions on a few screens (you don't actually have to prepare a return), and then when you are far enough into the process, the left menu column will change, and you'll then see a Tax Home option in the left menu column.  Do not click the Documents tab.  Instead, click on Tax Home.  Then on the Tax Home screen, scroll way down to the bottom to "Your Tax Returns & Documents".  Expand that section and choose the past year you want.   If your past returns are not shown there, then you likely have multiple accounts and signed into the wrong one.  I'll tell you below how to troubleshoot.   If you have already started a 2025 online return: Log in, and if you've already started a 2025 return in that account, then it may already open at the Tax Home.  If not, click the Tax Home tab in the left column menu.  Do not use the Documents tab.  At the Tax Home scroll down and expand "Your Tax Returns & Documents."   If the past returns are not there, see the steps below.   If you do all that and can't find the past return, here's how to look for multiple accounts: You can have up to 5 accounts that use the same email address for notification purposes.  A User ID may be an email address, but it doesn't have to be.  It might be only part of an email address, or it can be anything at all.   To get a list of your User IDs, reset password, and recover account access, etc., you can use the tool at the link below.  When using the Account Recovery tool, try using your phone number first if you can still access it.   After that, if necessary, then run the tool on your email address(es) you can access. NOTE: Before running the account recovery tool below, log out of all Intuit accounts including this user forum, or you might end up in a loop.  Then clear your browser Internet cache, close your browser, then reopen it, and go to the link below.  You may wish to copy this link so you can paste it into the new browser session. https://myturbotax.intuit.com/account-recovery If still no luck after running that on your phone number you can still access and email address(es) that you can access,  here's another method:          Go back to the tool again, but this time leave the data field blank, scroll down a bit, then choose the small blue link that says "Try something else", and it will look you up by other parameters.

Just installed today's update and................. Still just a useless piece of software.   I still can't believe they would offer this for sale with no warnings about not actually being able to use it. Just shameful !   Any recommendations for something else to try next year?
I have looked through the help and it provides instructions, but I can't follow them - pages are not available.

No. Using a CPA does not significantly reduce audit risk. Audits are driven by the numbers and patterns on the return, not who prepares it. If you file correctly with good records, TurboTax and a CPA are treated the same by the IRS. A professional mainly helps with accuracy and support if an audit happens, not preventing one.

Yes, it can. If the IRS flags a compliance issue—like missing forms, mismatched income, or unclear deductions—your return may be delayed while they review or request clarification. Even small errors can slow processing. This is why many businesses rely on structured reviews (often done by firms like Ledger Labs) to catch compliance gaps early and avoid unnecessary delays.

if you are asking about 2025, do not file until you get it which should be issued by 1/31/2026. using check stubs could result in your entering inaccurate data that will delay your refund and might even require filing an amneded return. if you are asking about 2024, contact your employer. Turbotax does not have a copy of it. you should have received it by 1/31/2025. other sources are the Social Security Administration for a fee or the IRS. The IRS will not provide state dat if you have a state income tax.  Another possibility is that your employer treated you as an independent contractor but then you should have gotten a 1099-NEC by the same date if your gross was $600 or more.
