I think your #2 fits.   You get 1 free state PROGRAM download.   That would probably be for your VA.   It can do all returns for that state.   So you would need to buy NY, NJ & PA state programs at $45 each.  Each state program can do multiple returns for that state.   You can install the Desktop program on 5 computers you own.  It can do unlimited returns but only efile 5 federal.   More than 5 you can print and mail.   Each state return (including the first one) is $25 to efile or you can print and mail state for free.  Oh, but NY is free to efile.   Did I cover everything?

If you were working as a contractor for the first three months, you will have to report that income as self-employment.  If you mean that you were employed the first three months, then you should have received a form W2.   You will also need to report Form 1098-T that you should have received from your school.     How do I report income from self-employment? What education tax credits are available?

I'm trying to file my 2024 tax return independently using TurboTax. in the 1095-A section, they are asking for my premium percentage, SLCSP percentage, and Advanced payment of PTC percentage. Should I put 20 for all three percentages?

The basis of a gift of property for the receiver  (the donee) of the gift is whatever the basis of the giver (the donor) was. Same for holding period (long-term vs. short-term.) However, if the property was under water at the time of the gift (i.e., the fair-market value (FMV) of the gift at time of gift was less than the donor's basis), then the basis for a sale at a loss is the FMV at gift time.   See I.R.C. 1015(a) - https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/26/1015   But do note that unless the vehicle is used for a business, no loss is allowed upon sale of personal use property and no deduction is allowed that involves basis. Personal-use vehicles are rarely sold at a gain, though yours  may be an exception (if its an antique or you restored it or something).

If you rented it only for six days, you don't have to report the income.   The rule is It doesn't matter whether you earn $100 or $10,000 during those 14 days that you rent out space—you don't have to report the earnings on your taxes.  However, to qualify, you must:   live in the house yourself for more than 14 days during the year or at least 10% of the time that you rent it to others.  If you rented it 6 days, ten percent of that is less than one day, so you can qualify to exclude the income.  Just keep the documents with your tax records.   @lglennmusic
