If your return interview is closed because TurboTax thinks you were finished, then go to the Tax Home page and click on "Add a State."   That doesn't really add one, but opens the return interview.     After you make the changes, go through the Review again.   And be sure any changes also reflected on the state return, if applicable.

Yes in theory. At the federal level the deduction is suspended through 2025 but it may be deductible on your state return.

I had one error for my school distric (SD). I am not sure you have the same error but essentially is says ... modified adjusted gross income less exemptions is incorrect. I called Turbotax and they could not help me fix the error. I had a copy of my federal and state returns and when I looked at the state return line 3 is Ohio adjusted gross income and line 4 is exemption amount. Line 5 is Ohio income tax base. If you ignore Ohio, you have adjusted gross income less exemptions with the difference on line 5. I put this amount into the SD and the error was fixed. Hope this is your problem also. As an aside, I tried to use the federal and found you take AGI and adjust for all kinds of things to get the modified adjusted gross income but I only had tax exempt interest, which of course did not work because the answer is from the state return.

Personal income tax in New Mexico starts with the Federally Adjusted Gross Income (FAGI) from your federal return.  You are then able to use the Form PIT-1 to make any adjustment necessary in claiming exemptions or deductions allowed by New Mexico law.   The Form PIT-1 also has many credits and rebates as specified in the instructions below.

I would delete the 1099NEC and just enter your total income as Other self employment income or as Cash or General income.  You don't need to get a 1099NEC or 1099Misc or 1099K.  Even if you did you can enter all your income as Cash.  Only the total goes to schedule C.

Go to   Profile > Security Settings > Change user ID Here you'll see the user ID (case sensitive) you need to enter to import your forms. In my case I was receiving the error because my username is all caps but i was entering it with mixed case as when I created it, but E*TRADE changed it to all caps. Strange because I can log in just fine using my mixed case username on the web portal. Web portal login also works using upper case only username.     TLDR. Case sensitive username (try all uppercase) for importing via turbotax. Case insensitive username when logging in through the web portal.

This seemed to work.  However, this also seems to be a pretty big unfixed bug.  Makes me wonder if there are other unfixed but unseen bugs...     Anyway, thanks for your solution.

@problems with your software   wrote:  "Fees at the end when filing be aware ??? state is suppose to be free the look at your account"         It's very difficult to comment since you didn't mention at all what product level you are using and whether it's Online TurboTax or desktop software.   And did you use any optional add-ons, like MAX or PLUS?    So we have to start guessing.       If you're using desktop software, there is a $25 fee to efile a state return (no fee for NY state.)     If you're using Online TurboTax, you would need to explain exactly what product and options you are using.  In the Online products, only the Free Edition has a free state return.   (Note:  the Military promo also has a free state return.)

I'm not sure how to link back to my last post, but I just tried looking at the problem through Forms view.  What I'm seeing is 2023 (no errors) TT has page numbers 1-8 (upper RH side of each "page" (questionable if you're thinking "letter" size paper).  On the other hand, TT 2024 only had pages 1-5.  Page 7 is where the "Disallowed Passive Losses" are being tabulated.  It's not just a matter of more content on different pages either.  The section isn't even present.  I imagine along with whatever else is on those missing 3 pages, but I'm only dealing with 1 error that seems to come out that region.  If 2024 doesn't have a page to make a comparison from, that would explain a lot why we get the same error regardless of what number we manually enter through the error dialog box.  It seems to be present there only, but not in "Forms" view which you would think is the complete listing TT intends to submit.     BTW - Working from the Desktop version.  Whatever TT $60 charge is (/hr?) I'd like about $180 for working to solve this.

But like I said when I file it 1099-NEC it won’t allow my gambling winnings to be returned to me weirdly. Unless there’s another way. I received the 1099-NEC but as a reminder it says no employee compensation
