I have TT 2024 H&B on Windows 10 Pro. The Microsoft updates from Patch Tuesday on 8 April 2025 have been installed. TurboTax crashes upon opening with an option to send the error message to Intuit.   How to fix: The newest version of the file "Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2022 Redistributable (x64)" is 14.42.xxxxxxxx. If you uninstall this then rerun the TT installer, it will offer to install the C++ for you. It installs v14.40.xxxxxx. You can now open TurboTax. You don't need to go through the full install. You can cancel the install as soon at the C++ install has finished.   I called Intuit to report this and the woman I spoke to said she couldn't help me unless I had a problem with the program. Well, the above sounds as if it's a problem with the program, but she refused to listen. I then asked for her supervisor and she hung up on me. I explained to her that I had found the fix for the problem and that I wanted to give her the information so that they could help others and she stated that she would get into trouble for taking that information.   INTUIT, WHAT SORT OF STUPID, ASININE NONSENSE IS THIS?????

bcv, I appreciate your guidance on this issue, and I have two follow up questions: 1. Should I also be issuing a 1099-R to the Estate for its income amount, similar to what I am doing for the interest and dividends? 2. There was tax withheld from the last pension payment, and included in the 1099-R issued to the decedent. Can I leave that in the 1040, or does it also need to be split out? Thank you very much!

Are you trying to e-file?  A driver's license is not required to file your federal return.   What state return are you filing, as you can usually avoid having to enter any drivers license information for state returns too.  Or where are you trying to type it?
You just have to Add a new 1098.

I filed an extension for my 2024 taxes with payment. Turbotax H&B 2024 is not deducting the payment amount from owed taxes as if no payment is on the extension. I also made a payment with my extension for State taxes; that one shows up against what I owed. I can change the State payment amount and it will change the amount in the State taxes refund/owed box. But the Federal one doesn't make any changes. Is there another place in TurboTax that the payment with extension (Federal) should be entered to be correctly reflected?
