@LivePAWorkNY what the others meant was to complete the NY return before completing the PA return - that way the correct credit will be placed on the PA return. You can file them at the same time.

@ashcrafteloe asked: "My gambling winnings i was issued a W-2G . i filled the forms out correctly and its been Rejected twice saying the EIN number is wrong . There is no EIN number for a W-2G." On your W-2G it may be called "Payer's TIN", or perhaps Payer's Federal ID number. Often a Payer's TIN, EIN, Federal ID number refer to the same thing. Or is there no TIN/EIN/Federal tax ID number at all for the Payer on the W-2G? If that's the case, you can phone the casino business office and ask for it. The Payer's phone number may be on the W-2G. Here's more info on that rejection: https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-return/e-file-rejection-error-fw2g-502-form-w-2g-payer-e/L4Ra9iyDZ_US_en_US

Preparing one state is free but eFile is not. You can print and mail the state to save the eFile fees.

You don’t have to give them anything. They have to document the payment themselves and make the case to the IRS that the sponsorship served a legitimate advertising purpose.

There were no federal errors. This was the only error that came up. The option to e-file does come up, but when I go to do that, it won’t go through because of the error. I just kept going in circles with it. I ended up using another provider and it went through with no problem. How do I go about getting refunded the fee I paid to Turbo Tax?

no, but i did figure out how to respond to the turbotax questions, so it then would allow me to enter the costs for each child. it was trickier than their normal process. i do find it surprising that i can enter more expenses than the amount i attributed to the specific care provider; and it doesn't cause an error upon review. thanks for your help.

sorry to be clearer... did it go on Schedule 1 or Schedule C ... when you answer the questions on 1099-MISC interview be sure to say "no" to the question about whether it was "intent or earn money"; if you say "yes" here, that will trigger Schedule C and may be adversely impacting your tax (see comments from @VolvoGirl )

that s the correct code for a Conversion - it means that you are not subject to the 10% penalty, but it is a taxable event. did you answer that your TRAD IRA basis on 12/31/23 and 12/31/24 was zero? there is a question that asks what did you do with the money? answer should be "moved it to another retirement account", then the next drop down should be "did a combination of rollover, converting, or cashing out the money'. the next drop down answers how much was converted to a Roth IRA. (answer for you $8000 to Roth)) is that what you did?

Hi, I'm trying to input data from my Schedule K-3 (attached to my K-1) into TurboTax, and I'm a bit stuck on how to handle the foreign country section. On the TurboTax screen titled "Enter info from your Schedule K-3", it says: "On your Schedule K-3, go to Part II, Section 1, Line 24 and enter the foreign country for which you are reporting foreign taxes paid or accrued." But there's only a single-select dropdown for one country. My K-3 includes three countries, including the US (if that counts), but not all columns (b), (c), (d), and (e) have values for each. There’s also this note on the screen: "You must enter separate K-1 worksheets if you have more than one type of foreign gross income in columns (b), (c), (d), and/or (e)." My questions are: Does that note apply to multiple countries, or only to types of income (columns b–e)? Since I have 3 countries listed (some with no numbers in certain columns), do I need to create multiple K-1 entries in TurboTax? I'm already splitting the K-1 because both box 1 and box 2 are populated—does this mean I now need to create 4 K-1s inside TurboTax for this one paper K-1? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
