Once your tax return is fully processed and you receive your refund or your balance due is deducted from your return, you can file an amendment. When you prepare your amendment to add your dependent, TurboTax will calculate your new refund or balance due based on your entries.

For more information and instructions, review the TurboTax articles How to Correct Federal Tax Returns, How to File an Amended Tax Return with the IRS and Video: How to Amend Your Tax Return.

I got the Premier version of the TurboTax Desktop software.     We decided to file jointly for the State as well. So, we will have to file the 540NR for CA state tax.     In the state section it asks   1. Tell us a little more about your home      And provides only 1 address (my Texas address, do I not have to fill my wife's address in CA?) (FYI This is my turbotax account) 2.  It asks: About Your 2023 Tax Filing Did you file a 2023 California tax return? I didn't file a CA return in 2023, but my wife who lives in CA did file in CA 2023. What is the correct option here?

I am not sure if this is what your looking for but I possibly encountered the same problem and the solution came form the Ohio return where it shows modified adjusted gross income less exemptions and on line 5 the difference is what corrected the SD 100 error.

If you've already purchased the license, open the package and tear off the seal at the top on the right-inside.  Take out the card that says, "Let's get started!"  The location of the web page and instructions to download the product you purchased is all there.  Be sure to begin at InstallTurboTax.com, then select your product.  It should be easy from there.  Hoping this is helpful.

I think the answer is adjusted gross income from the state return less exemptions, which on line 5 is modified adjusted gross income less exemptions.

If your return interview is closed because TurboTax thinks you were finished, then go to the Tax Home page and click on "Add a State."   That doesn't really add one, but opens the return interview.     After you make the changes, go through the Review again.   And be sure any changes also reflected on the state return, if applicable.

Yes in theory. At the federal level the deduction is suspended through 2025 but it may be deductible on your state return.

I had one error for my school distric (SD). I am not sure you have the same error but essentially is says ... modified adjusted gross income less exemptions is incorrect. I called Turbotax and they could not help me fix the error. I had a copy of my federal and state returns and when I looked at the state return line 3 is Ohio adjusted gross income and line 4 is exemption amount. Line 5 is Ohio income tax base. If you ignore Ohio, you have adjusted gross income less exemptions with the difference on line 5. I put this amount into the SD and the error was fixed. Hope this is your problem also. As an aside, I tried to use the federal and found you take AGI and adjust for all kinds of things to get the modified adjusted gross income but I only had tax exempt interest, which of course did not work because the answer is from the state return.

I would delete the 1099NEC and just enter your total income as Other self employment income or as Cash or General income.  You don't need to get a 1099NEC or 1099Misc or 1099K.  Even if you did you can enter all your income as Cash.  Only the total goes to schedule C.

Go to   Profile > Security Settings > Change user ID Here you'll see the user ID (case sensitive) you need to enter to import your forms. In my case I was receiving the error because my username is all caps but i was entering it with mixed case as when I created it, but E*TRADE changed it to all caps. Strange because I can log in just fine using my mixed case username on the web portal. Web portal login also works using upper case only username.     TLDR. Case sensitive username (try all uppercase) for importing via turbotax. Case insensitive username when logging in through the web portal.
