I don't believe you can file this way.  An investment sale has to have 'Proceeds' whether it a gain or a loss when compared to Cost Basis.  Your entries show you 'gave away' stock that cost you $100.    You could report Proceeds as equal to Cost Basis, so no gain/loss is reported.    However, you can't upload or mail a copy of your 1099-B since you don't have one.  If you sent documentation of the sales with a mailed return, then you may get questions from the IRS on why you're not reporting the sales/loss correctly on your return.  You could also include a statement as to why you're not claiming the loss, but I'm questioning at this point if you even need to report this as a stock sale at all.   If you have other types of foreign income (dividends, wages, rental income, self employment income) that you paid Foreign Tax on, you could combine them into one entry for a foreign tax credit.  If this applies, report the total amount of foreign tax you paid, and the foreign income amount (total for all, less losses).   Here's more info on Claiming the Foreign Tax Credit and discussion on Foreign Capital Gains/Losses.   @MMehta

Did you enter the correct cost basis as an adjustment after indicating that the cost basis was incorrect.  If not, that is how you need to enter it.  If you did enter it as and adjustment, did you import your Form 1099-B?  Sometimes when you import a Form 1099-B making adjustments to the cost causes problems, even if the cost basis is missing.  If that is the case, try deleting your Form 1099-B and type it in yourself.

Thanks for your reply.  I'm not sure if my daughter can enter her own 1095-A, since my husband and I are listed as "recipients" in Part 1 and she is listed as the sole "covered individual" in Part 2.   The 2nd 1095-A lists my husband and me as recipients in part 1, and the two of us plus our younger child as covered individuals in Part 2.   I'm unclear how to proceed since my daughter was considered part of the household for APTC purposes, but is filing a separate tax return and had the "gold" Covered CA plan, while the rest of us had the silver plan.  In addition, when we initially obtained Covered CA coverage, she was considered a dependent but ultimately did not qualify as a dependent when filing.

Form 1098-T is a tuition statement and really isn't "put/reported" on anyone's return, it is used to do calculations. In TurboTax, it is suggested that the taxpayer that claims the student enters the forms (1099-Q, 1098-T) and lets the program decide the next step.  If the distribution is taxable, the person that was issued the 1099-Q needs to claim the taxable portion. If there is a credit, the taxpayer claiming the student gets the credit, if there is taxable scholarships, the program will tell the taxpayer claiming the student how much the student needs to claim.    This is the procedure if you want the TurboTax program to do the math.   For the taxpayer that wants to do the math, only the relevant form(s) is entered.    IN YOUR SITUATION,  if the entire distribution was used for Room and Board, no reason to enter Form 1099-Q in any TurboTax program   if you are not eligible for an education credit (are you over the income level?) no reason to enter Form 1098-T in your TurboTax program   if the student received more in scholarships then what was paid in education expenses and needs to claim that excess as income, Form 1098-T can be entered into the student's program so the program can calculate the amount to claim  OR  the taxable amount (only) can be entered on the student's TurboTax program

Thank you for that response. I still am trying to figure out under which head i should claim the business expense for using contractors from India. This is my first and would be my final return as the business is closed.  Currently I put it under payment to independent contractors. Also, can I also claim the state opening registration fees and closing business fees in the return Thanks

I submitted a tax return for 2024 using the free edition. Then, I amended it to add a school form again, using the free edition. Now I realized I missed another school form for 2024, so I have to amend the amendment now that I've gotten the first amendment processed and completed. However, I open turbotax, and BEFORE filling out a second amended return, it says im on turbotax deluxe. I go through with the process of the amendment and at the end theres a $143 charge to use the deluxe product. 1, why was my account switched to that product if I had only ever used the free version? 2, Why is there no option to downgrade?(yes ive tried all the ways you normally could but i cant). 3, why even after I stay on a call for 1 hour and 4 minutes is there no one who can help me or simply offer me a service code or something to waive the cost of deluxe, because I NEVER chose to use it. I dont want to pay to file the same return I filed for free twice, and theres no rule I can find that says "first amendments free but the second isn't!" So someone help me fix this.

Customer is trying to determine amount to put in the AT Risk Limitation Worksheet on the Ordinary Income for 2024. Customer has a 2023 a negative AGI. Customer did not have an AT Risk Limitation Worksheet or a 6198 form for 2023. There is a QBI Carry over in the amount of the K1 loss which is > AGI. Customer want to know how to apply the 2023 AGI loss to 2024? This is non passive loss that was reported on Schedule E for 2023 and again in 2024. The loss is showing on Schedule E 28i. Customer has attempted to add PYA on 2024 Schedule but is unsure of the amount and if it should equal prior year AGI. Customer did not have form 8582. Does customer need to have home and business and not premier to calculate loss correctly?   Please advise on how to carry over prior negative AGI loss to 2024 TY.

Are you kidding me?!!!! Is that any bug????

Mississippi generally follows federal tax treatment for capital gains but has state-specific exemptions, such as the Sec 1202 Qualified Small Business Stock (QSBS) sale exemption. Since Mississippi does not tax the gain from the sale of stock in a Mississippi-based C corporation, you correctly made the adjustment.   However, TurboTax does not support filing the filing of the reconciliations page thus you will need to manually attach a statement explaining the adjustment.  You will then need to mail the return to Mississippi, as TurboTax won't allow electronic filing when statements are attached.
