I’m trying to file my 2021 tax year to receive the credit that I did not receive because I did not file for 2021 so do I use my 2022 W-2s
I can not figure out anything that would give me a Capital Gains of almost 30k.
We have IRS confirmation they received the estimated payments. Why isn't TT counting the amount in its calculation of our tax owed?

update...should have read all the responses first.  Too frustrated and tired-will delete the 1099 and retry tomorrow.  Same here.  I only have SS#, and that was the option I chose when completing the information.  Now, I cannot file because, although the SS# is entered, it also wants the EIN, which I do not have.  It will not allow me to file.   The form says to use either EIN or SS#, NOT both.   Please post if you get a resolution.  So frustrating...it is a glitch on TT end, and no one can assist because I did not purchase the extra help.  TT is already getting everything from my small return of $220 :(.

I'm pretty sure it existed a couple of years ago because I think I've seen other questions about it in this community forum from earlier years. But yes, it's baffling that they include it when it doesn't work. I took hours trying to figure it out because I thought the problem had to be me - how could this major, established software company have such a bad fail in their software? But as you can see from my earlier comment, not only does it not work, but their own people don't understand it.    What worked for me was to enter everything for a joint return, then save a duplicate of that and delete everything related to my wife so that a version was only me, but then I couldn't do the same for my wife because my name was listed first, so I had to re-enter her (luckily much simpler) data into a new return. Then we did a comparison and reconciliation.    Hopefully this will be fixed by next year.
I paid for living expenses (rent, bills, travel, etc.) and other necessities for my dependent graduate student. How can I claim these expenses as education expenses on my tax return as a parent?

You can deduct gambling losses, but only to the extent of your gambling winnings. You can't deduct the losses without reporting any winnings and you have to itemize your deductions on Schedule A. If you don't have enough itemized deductions, you won't be able to deduct your losses.   Refer to the TurboTax article Can You Claim Gambling Losses on Your Taxes?   Review the following TurboTax articles to determine if there are additional items that you can deduct on your Schedule A.  20 Common Tax Deductions: Examples for Your Next Tax Return, What Are Itemized Tax Deductions?, and Standard Deduction vs. itemized deductions: Which Is Better?
