No One of Turbotax's shortcomings is no NOL calculation.
except for a C-corp and possibly for state business income tax returns, a business does not have an NOL. rather the k-1 (partnership or S-corp) transfers the loss to an individual's return and it's at the individual level that an NOL is determined. You do not complete the form for the business. only for the individual taxpayer. As a matter of fact, looking at desktop deluxe, it does not provide for the form. if you must complete it, you have several options
omit it to e-file then paper file an amended return once accepted or
mail your return and attach the form. a manual form cannot be attached to the Turbotax e-file

When i entered my 5-digit PIN that I used on my 2023 Tax Return, it was rejected on the 2024 Tax Return. But, the TurboTax 1040 only allows me to enter a 5-digit PIN, and the IRS PIN is 6 digits. When I entered the first 5 digits of the 6-digit PIN, my return was rejected. So, how do I enter the 6 digit IRS PIN?

You mentioned that TT will not allow you to efile if you've made any overrides on your return. On my 2024 return I was faced with the same dilema where to report agency interest on my Oregon return. I opted to do an override and post it on OR-ASC Section B subtractions, Code 315. The override did not prevent me from e-filing, which I was able to do successfully yesterday. I realize your post is 5 years old so I'm guessing that TT must have modified their software to allow overrides to be e-filed. I do have a concern: My broker (Schwab) includes agency interest in box 1 and I'm expecting Oregon Dept. of Revenue to question my return because it isn't reported separately on my federal return. Agency bonds are a huge market, it is mind boggling that brokers are not required to report agency income separately on a 1099-INT. I'll be on the phone tomorrow with the Schwab Tax Dept demanding an explanation and expecting to be brushed off lol.

each line on a Turbotax form or schedule could have instructions that are pages long. this would require its programmers to write additional code for 100s of thousand, if not more, of line in all the tax forms Turbotax does. this could raise the cost to more than what a pro would charge. It's a matter of practicality since there is this forum and, i believe, free live support for all but online basic

Thanks @AmyC for the example. Let's say that I had a loss for Oregon from last year that I wanted to carryforward to this year. Where do I enter the carryforward loss from last year into TurboTax for Oregon during the TurboTax interview (or into a form)?
