For the federal amended return, include only Form 1040-X and any forms or schedules that have changed or are added. Do not include a copy of the original return. For more details see the IRS Instructions for Form 1040-X, especially "Assembling Your Return" on page 11. For New Jersey see "Enclosures with Form NJ-1040X" on page 1 of the Instructions for Form NJ-1040X. Do not use staples, paper clips, or anything else to fasten the pages. Just put all of the pages loose in the envelope.
Pending means the IRS has them but has not processed them yet.  It normally takes about 21 days.  If they are still pending after 21 days, then contact the IRS to see what is holding them up.

Since you say that you "live in New Jersey," New Jersey is most likely your "domicile." If New Jersey is your domicile, and you have a permanent home in New Jersey, you are a full-year resident of New Jersey for income tax purposes, even if you don't spend much time in the state. For more details see pages 2 and 3 of Publication GIT-6.

You didn't say what that refund status is.    What is the refund status displayed at the IRS website?   Is there any message there? Does it say the return has been received and is still being processed by the IRS? https://www.irs.gov/wheres-my-refund   We can tell you how to phone the IRS to speak to a live IRS agent to inquire.

Yes, that's the behavior I would expect - enter as number in a worksheet and that number would be transferred to the form correctly.   But, as I said in my post, the "-1" in Carryover Wks gets transferred as something else to Form 8995 and there doesn't seem to be any way to fix the corruption. Deleting and recreating the Carryover Wks doesn't help and deleting the 8995 doesn't help.

Or sometimes I use my "zoom out" settings to see if there is anything off screen that comes into view. If using Windows, for instance,  press and hold CTRL and then press the  - key (minus key) to make screen smaller, which sometimes can bring something up from the bottom.    Sometimes I have to hit the minus key 2-3 times (while still holding the CTRL key.)      CTRL plus 0 key takes the screen back to normal.

@001Boomer   Did you use the Online web  version or the Desktop installed program?  The $60 could be the $20 fee to efile a state return plus the $40 Refund Processing Service  charge to have the fee deducted from your federal refund.     In the Desktop program you get 1 free state PROGRAM download to prepare returns in that state.  Then each state return (including the first one)  is $20 or 25 to efile except NY is free.

My Federal return was $320 less than expected.  Additionally, there was a $260 penalty was added by IRS and subtracted from what was initially expected.  Their reason for the penalty was wording only they could understand.  I'll request plain English translation later, but, I'm afraid it's going to end up being an, 'it is what it is', no matter what argument I may present so I'm prepared for that.  Anyway, from that lesser amount deposited into my bank account by TPG Products, I found out in speaking with a representative  of that company via landline, on the day I received the deposit, that a $60 fee was deducted from the amount they received from IRS to be deposited into my bank.  I asked why there was a fee and justification for it and he related it was due to an 'outstanding debt'. (???)  He could not or would not elaborate beyond that to explain what outstanding debt  it was or how it was arrived as 'outstanding debt' and truthfully, I think he slipped up in supplying that information and the $60 fee.  Rapid and intensive questioning, I think might have caught him off guard.  This will be the very last time I will be using Turbo Tax after decades of satisfactory service.  I was surprised this happened as at the end of filing and the review of the tax reporting, Turbo Tax pointed out on their slide scale that there was ZERO chance of audit and all was correctly figured and checked for accuracy.  I feel I've gotten held up and without a gun or a knife by TPG Products!  Intuit, you need to FIX THIS, PLEASE!   Thanks for reading...
