I have a W-2 and 1099. I maxxed out my 401k  employee contribution via my W2 job. In this case, I am only able to contribute the employER contribution to my solo 401k. However, when I enter the calculated employer comtribution, my tax burden does not change. Shouldn't this contribution reduce my taxable income? Wouldnt this considered a business expense? is turbo tax faulty? Should I just enter this under business expense since that is what it is?  Please help.
Why is it asking me to change my dates on the Tax and interest deduction worksheet
& I scrolled around & reduced size so I could see the field to enter the answer so got state downloaded. So hopefully ready to start in the morning
did you get a CO state K-1/ it should be on there and you enter it in the Turbotax state k-1.

@BillM223 I'm also having the same issue (excess of $X, but already withdrawn $Y), question regarding your "solution": what exactly should I do in 2024 tax return and in 2025 tax return respectively?    My understanding is in 2024 tax return I should only report $X excess contribution withdrawn. In 2025 tax return I need to report $Y-X as distributions(with medical expenses), is that correct? But I guess I will receive 1099-SA with $Y and distribution code=2, right? Will that be an issue?    Thanks.

in screens after the one shoown (it takes you nowhere) you should come to one that says at the top "Review Your XYZ Rental Summary"    on that screen, there's a line that says "Sale of Property/Depreciation" Click on the link.    as a side note, a sales price must be entered for each asset so that 1) the gain/loss and depreciation recapture is correct and 2) so the property is gone when you do 2025.
You're welcome.  But I don't know much about Mac's or a security question.  If you can't see it, sounds like you need to change the resolution back.

You're right.   It is too late 🙂   I already wrote the direct navigation steps, so here are 2 methods that may help someone in Online TurboTax.  However, these are actually for ONLINE TurboTax, and I just noticed you are using desktop TurboTax.   Well, I'll follow up with the desktop method for good measure in another comment.  🙂   I realize you no longer need it, since you used Forms Mode instead.     I guess I should go to bed, too!   ********************************** For Online TurboTax I can tell you where a state "applied overpayment" from 2023 is entered in the program (or autopopulates if you transferred from last year) so you can confirm it is correct.   Surprisingly, even for state applied overpayment, it's done on the Federal side.   See if you can use this shortcut:   Open your return interview, and in the top right corner click the Search icon (magnifying glass.) In the search box enter applied overpayment without quotes.   When entering disregard any of the dropdown suggestions.   Instead click the adjacent magnifying glass that's inside the search box. You should get a blue link Jump to applied overpayment.  Click that. Next screen is Estimates and Other Income Taxes Paid. Scroll way down that list almost to the last category and find 2023 Refund Applied to 2024.  Click the little arrowhead to expand and see the subtopics.  Then choose the type of applied overpayment to report, such as, 2023 refund applied to 2024 state taxes, if that's your situation, and click Start or Revisit. Then continue answering the screens about your applied overpayment. If you can't get to it using that "jump to" method, here's an alternate navigation:   Go to the left menu column and click on Tax Tools, then subtab Tools. In the Tools center click on blue button Topic Search. In the search line enter applied overpayment without quotes, make the selection in the list for same term, and click GO. Continue with the last 4 bullet points in the first method I gave above.

Took me a bit to figure this out too, but when you open the tax file from a prior tax year - it'll be hard to find the "Amend" option. TurboTax CD / Desktop versions consider Amendments as "New Returns", so the way to see that option is to first go to the top left hand menu / horizontal navigation bar and Select File > New Tax Return > then on that start page, if you look on the screen the "Amend" return option will appear as one of the options.   Hope this helps!

ah hah, I found the answer.   I went to the forms format and found a form that has the Prior Year PIN.  This form is completely hidden from all the steps that we have to go through during the question/answer session with Turbo Tax.   Apparently, if I have not been able to e-file, the prior year PIN will be empty (or shown as all zeroes) when I try to transmit my returns.   The silliest thing is that now I can pass Turbo Tax road blocker of e-pin, but I don't know if the IRS will accept my submission, because I mailed in both 2022 or 2023, so I definitely do not have the e-pin for 2023.  Maybe IRS will use my 2021 as the last time I  successfully submitted e-file.   Hopefully this will help someone!
This is unhelpful. The RPA does not include all of the information that the CRP does and requires the documents to be uploaded/included. How are we supposed to do this?
