Initially filed with a typo in the SSN, which got rejected. Then submitted with the correct SSN, which was accepted. The next day, I received a corrected 1099. When I tried to amend the return using the correct SSN, it wouldn’t allow it. Then I tried with the typo SSN, but TurboTax Desktop says I haven’t filed using TurboTax and asks me to mail it in instead. Has anyone else faced the same issue?

Thanks for your response, DaveF1006. Do you have pointers on how do I report these transactions in TurboTax without claiming losses?

The software doubled my salary, I had to do an override to correct, which the error checker said it was an error. Then on Schedule C, step by step the question is asked about the name of the business, then it says, leave blank if there is not a name. I left blank, once again Turbo says that it is an error. Having to mail by tax form. I thought about including a cover letter to the IRS about all the problems that TurboTax has. I to have been a long time user.

10,876 - 9994 = 882. What did the other $882 pay for? If qualified expenses, then yes, the taxable amount is reduced. Apparently enough, that she doesn't HAVE TO file. However, if she needs to file to get a refund of withholding, technically you are suppose to go to the trouble of adding the taxable amount, even though it doesn't matter (no change in the refund amount).
(5994 + 882) / 7476 = 91.97% of the distribution is qualified. 8.025% isn't
0.08025 x 2334 = $187 reportable unearned income
Q. Some of her income is unearned interest so I believe she will still need to file a return, but won't owe any taxes. Does this sound correct?
A. No. It depends on the amount of interest. If less than $263, then she doesn't need to file. If more, she must file and will owe tax. There is no situation, where she has to file and there is no calculated tax.

On my K-1 Estates and Trusts worksheet, I see my long-term capital loss carryover called out correctly: But on my Schedule D, it is listed as net long-term loss instead of long-term capital loss carryover: Can anyone tell me why this would happen? I don't understand why this wouldn't load to Line 14. Thanks for any insight!

Yes, if you have employees, you will need an EIN to file the 944 and/or 941. See Apply for an Employer Identification Number (EIN) online.

(This is different than a rebate, a rebate is returning your money, and incentive is a payment)
This amount cannot be used as part of the cost of the system if you apply for an energy credit.

If the only issue with your 2023 tax return was not entering the correct amount of social security income, then that won't affect your 2024 tax return, so you can submit that even if the 2023 amended return is not processed.
Also, it is strange the IRS did not adjust your 2023 return when they processed it to reflect the correct social security income, as they have a copy of your SSA-1099 form. Normally, they would have made a correction and sent you a letter explaining the adjustment and asking for payment of additional taxes due.

Thank you, everything you described makes sense. I don't believe that I carried over any losses because I never needed to in order to claim $0 real estate income. I am looking at schedule E as well as the schedule E worksheet and Form 8582. Could you please be more specific about where on Schedule E (or elsewhere) I need to look for unallowed carry over losses? What is the specific line item? I see a few unallowed loss lines in Form 8582 but not in Schedule E and don't know which one to use. Do I go through all prior returns since I turned the condo into a rental property and add up those carryover losses since I never claimed those carryover losses? Thanks again in advance!!
