@Bsch4477 I kept the QBI, but then before I file, TurboTax kept asking me to review the QBI numbers. Is that a technical glitch? I don't have a business so I don't understand why it calculated the QBI in the first place. Any advice?

Hello. I did not receive a 1098-T form for the 2024 school year because my financial aid exceeded my tuition cost. Therefore, I received a school refund for the Fall 24 semester. In 2024, I made over 30k in income. Am I still required to file taxes to report my excess financial aid? If so, how would I even input this into TurboTax without a 1098-T form? I am completely lost. Thank you!

@MarilynG1 same situation. I tried to complete the NY non-resident form on TurboTax and I did not see any questions regarding the rental property or the loss from it. The income from federal transfered over but it shows up as zero and I also allocated zero to NYS as it is a loss. Is there anything else that I'm supposed to do? doesnt seem like that would be capturing the depreciation of the loss carryover either.

I accidentally over contributed to my 401K in 2024, the plan would not let me remove it in 2024 only in 2025. I got the money before April. I dont have a 1099 form but i found in another turbo tax post how to enter the payment in 2024 taxes as other earned income. The plan did remove taxes from the amount returned to me. When and where do i enter the taxes withheld? Do i enter that in 2024 taxes as i am entering the income or enter it next year? please provide details instructions. Thanks EK

Your response looked promising, but it may be out of date. I have both an "Annual Interest Paid" number and an "Accrued Interest Reported" number in Box 3 of my Form 1099-INT for the HH Bonds that were mature and cashed in this past year 2024. TurboTax will only accept one number for Box 3. I can enter the "Annual Interest Paid" number in Box 3, but I don't see any way to enter the second number. The only "uncommon" option is "My form has info in other boxes" and Box 3 is not available in that list. Where do I enter the "Accrued Interest Reported" number?

I was looking at my tax forms after I downloaded it and I’m missing the last number on my bank account. It only has nine of the routing and the ninth of my account number. Is this normal not to show the last number or is it they made a mistake and they forgot to add the last number?

As I was filing out the form, TurboTax prompted me with a new additional medicare tax (over $2000) and net investment income tax (over $1900). Are these extra taxes expected for Washington state? I was fully covered by a high-deductible health plan all year 2024. I don't remember having these extra taxes last year.

when you have documents left over from last year, TurboTax will ask you to fill them out. @awponce45

just as it says. From the K-3. the amount on line 54 column F minus the amounts on those other lines in column F. what seems to be the issue? if any line is zero or blank, then ignore it.

I would go back and amend prior years. If you did not report an unallowed passive loss on your California returns the past few years, it may be disallowed on your 2024 return.

@SharonD007 Just want to be sure I'm doing this correctly. Do I need to provide receipts or some kind of proofs to show that I paid for all my parents expenses throughout the year? Or can I just make that determination based on the best of my knowledge and claim them as dependents? Are there any expenses that would not qualify? Thanks.

I'm still confused on what category to use for the information in Box 14 of my W-2 (I'm in Colorado). And to add to this confusion, this year's Box 14 on my W-2 has two entries - one labeled FAMLI and a second row labeled CO PFML (both have the same value - which agrees with the amount listed on my last 2024 paycheck). Last year it had just one entry. On this year's, it almost appears to be duplicative. I have not requested or received any family leave payments (so no 1099-G). So - should I categorize the FAMLI entry as "Other deductible state or local tax" (i.e., its deductible) and the CO PFML as "Other (not classified)" (i.e., not deductible)?

The must not offer the Home and Business on line. I can (& will) purchase and download the Home & Business for $95. Hopefully my data will transfer in.

I am trying to file an extension. But I owe federal taxes ($500) and am expecting a refund for California ($100). With my extension, do I need to submit $500 or $400?
