Please read this TurboTax Help topic on how to start a new tax return for another person.
If you are using TurboTax Online, you cannot prepare and file a tax return for another person using an existing TurboTax account. You'll need to create a new account for yourself, distinct from the account you used to file your son's return last year.
If you are using TurboTax Desktop, you can start a new return for yourself by clicking on Start a new return on the Welcome page of TurboTax.

Trust owns a seller financed receivable on which payments were received in 2024 related to sales of rental property in 2021. Trying to figure out how to enter this in Turbo Tax Business and Trust version on the trust tax return. First year filing the trust tax return. I entered the sale in the rental property asset and disposal fields of the tax return but since the sale date was 2021 the software was giving me an message stating sale date must be in same filing tax year (2024). Also it doesn't ask me if the sale was seller financed loan. How do I enter the income received in 2024 related to seller financed income in the Turbo tax trust software? Thanks.

You'd file Married Filing Jointly for your federal tax return.
If you and your husband were full-year residents of your respective states and never a resident of each other's states, you'd file Married Filing Separately for your state returns and only include your own income on your respective returns.

Step 1 - Find out if he qualifies as a dependent. Take the quick quiz, Dependent - Who can I claim? using the IRS Worksheet for Determining Support.
Step 2 - If he is not your dependent, proceed without him.
If he is your dependent:
He will need to get an identity protection pin from the IRS for you to file and claim him as a dependent. See Get an Identity Protection PIN (IP PIN).
He will need to amend his return and mark that he can be claimed and remove the interest.
A dependent may not claim the student loan interest. Topic no. 456, Student loan interest deduction states: You can claim the deduction if all of the following apply:
You paid interest on a qualified student loan in tax year 2024;
You're legally obligated to pay interest on a qualified student loan;
Your filing status isn't married filing separately;
Your MAGI is less than a specified amount which is set annually; and
Neither you nor your spouse, if filing jointly, were claimed as dependents on someone else's return. Another taxpayer is claiming you as a dependent if they list your name and other required information on page 1 of their Form 1040, 1040-SR, or 1040-NR.

I have a multi-member LLC and one of the members has a SE-401(k) plan. The LLC made distributions throughout the year and the member made their own $30,500 contributions to their 401k ($23k + $7.5k catch-up). The LLC also made a $5k contribution to their 401k (part of the "employer" contribution of up to 20% of net income). It was only $5k as the rest was contributed in 2025 as a 2024 contribution. Line 13 on the member's Schedule K-1 has an R for the $5k. But when adding that K-1 to the personal taxes, there's an issue on the Keogh, SEP and SIMPLE Contribution Worksheet because that $5k is showing up in line 6b, "Elective deferrals to an individual 401(k) plan" instead of where I would think it would go, line 6e, "Enter the total employer matching (profit sharing) contributions made to an individual 401(k) plan for 2024". Am I misunderstanding something here?

If your Tax Return was rejected due to an IP PIN, you should have received a letter from the IRS with the 6 digits Number, or you can create an account on the IRS website to retrieve it. Make sure that you are entering it on the correct place
Get an identity protection PIN (IP PIN)
To enter the IP PIN
From your TurboTax main screen locate Unconmon Situations.
Select the sub-topic "Identity Protection PIN", and click START.
If your Tax Return keeps getting rejected because the IP PIN is wrong, you will need to mail your return.
