I literally filed mine and my wife’s taxes 1/25/2025, it was accepted 1/27/2025. I received a letter in the mail on march 10, stating that my tax refund is under review that I could not call or get any answers until the 60 day waiting period was over. It’s literally the same W2’s and credits we have been filing since 2016!!! The irs lady told me that you cannot get any answers before the 60 day period, and even after waiting that long it could take up to 180 days before I would see my return? I don’t understand why. Turbo tax is clearly no help at all after I’ve paid for to use their site to file them and paid extra for live tax help and it’s impossible to speak to anyone other than a freaking bot!! Has this happened to anyone else?

No. The What-If worksheet is still there. Go into Forms View. Once there, at the top of the left column, click on the icon for "Open Form". A popup window will appear. In the text line, type the word "what" without quotes. You should see "what-if worksheet" appear as a selection choice. Double-click it to launch the form.

I did $7,000 in 2024 and $1,000 in Jan of 2025... all for 2024. The $2,309.28 recharacterization was done in Sept 2024 (the actual mistake into the Roth was in Feb 2024)... about a week later I converted it, which left 0.00 in my traditional. I knew this was going to screw things up... and I made it worse by making a 2024 contribution in 2025... and then converting it in 2025. I really appreciate everyone taking time to respond. Thanks

AL did not give the credit correctly and double-taxed me, as I detailed in my original question. I did NY first and did AL last. I would appreciate the input of anyone who has actually dealt with this scenario in TT. Anyone is actually familiar with this situation where you are a non-resident of NY and a resident of another state? How do you deal with this case? How and where do I supply TT the correct info to avoid double taxation?

I can find no 'What-If Worksheets' in Forms mode. Did they do away with this for 2024 filing version? And the underlined portion below has no link info associated with it?

The first page of your tax return printouts is a page titled Filing Instructions. That will show what and how your returns were filed.
Were your federal and MI state returns both accepted yet? If they were accepted, note the amounts of each refund; you will need the amount to check the status at the IRS and city of Detroit.
To check on your federal refund, check Where's My Refund?
To check your Detroit city taxes, click here.
Which city tax returns can I do in the TurboTax state program?

I am married filing separately and worked in CA throughout 2024 until I moved to AZ in December when I retired. All of my wages were earned in CA but I received my first pension check and did a 457 withdrawal in December after moving to AZ. Should I file as a CA resident or a part-time resident of CA and AZ and which sources of income are taxed in each state in this case?

I made several Tira conversions to Roth in '24. I made IRS "direct payments" online to cover my anticipated taxes on the conversions. This totaled a 6 figure payment and were listed in TTax "Tax Payments Worksheet", Lines 18b & 18c. These payments were made at the time of the conversion. The payment is reported on the 1040 line 25c as a withholding. The mutual fund company did not give me any tax forms for these transactions. I have reported the conversions on the 8606-T (and S). My problem is that the IRS sent me a check for the 6 figure amount as an 'overpayment'. I marked this check void and returned it with a letter of explanation that it was for tax on the conversion. The IRS replied to my letter saying in part "Our system shows tax of X and withholding of Y". The amounts X and Y are correct and listed on my 1040 line 24 and 25d. The letter further states "We received two payments of 'A' & 'B' on <Date, 2024>." A & B match the numbers reported above on lines 18b & 18c. And they sent a new 6 figure check as a refund. IMO They seem to be confusing withholding with direct payment. Perhaps I did not place the direct payment numbers in the correct spot on my return. Whatever the case it appears I will get nowhere returning the 6 figure check again. I'd love to keep it but I would not love being discovered and explaining this stuff. I tried calling them when I received the first check and after 6 hrs of getting no where not getting someone to help me I gave up. If there is a glaring error in reporting with the info I gave, I will file an amended return. Assuming TTax put the numbers in the right spot, I am looking for advice on how to correct this apparent error on the part of the IRS.

You won't file your taxes for this year (2025) until next year. Tax returns for 2024 are due today if you live in a federally declared disaster area. If not, they were due 04/15/25.

No, the current year is for 2024. We don’t do 2025 until next year in 2026. Only is only good for 2024. The year goes by the year ending 12/31/24.
