As an example, if you receive a $2000 scholarship for the 2024-2025 school year and half ($1000) is used in the fall semester 2024 and the other half ($1000) is used in the Spring Semester of the following year (2025), do you claim the full amount of the scholarship ($2000) on 2024 taxes or do you only claim $1000 used in 2024 then have to claim the remainder on 2025's taxes? I hope that makes sense.

If you're using TurboTax Online, you may have prepared your 2023 return under a different account. If you think that might apply, here's how to How to View My TurboTax Accounts.
In the desktop software the Tax History is still available in Forms Mode in the list of forms. If you can see your Tax History, but 2023 is missing, did you transfer your 2023 return into 2024? You could open your 2023 return in TurboTax and verify that it's correct. Make sure it's the same one you transferred to 2024.
If you open 2023 and there's no info (or wrong info), and you saved your tax file to a cloud-type storage last year, then downloaded it to use this year, it can become corrupted.
In that case, look for a .tax2023 backup copy, which may be on your computer. If you find a 2023 file with correct info, you can 'start a new return' and transfer in that file. However, you'll need to re-enter all the 2024 info.
If you're done with your 2024 return and about to file, you may want to sacrifice having your 2023 value on the 5-year report (or save the report from a correct 2023 return for your records).

My financial advisor moved from Bank A to Bank B mid-year, both of which are supported financial institutions. In previous years, I imported my tax documents by simply signing into my account with Bank A from within TurboTax desktop (macOS), and TurboTax pulled all relevant tax information from Bank A. Unfortunately, after moving from Bank A to Bank B, Bank A closed my account and instead sent me electronic copies of my tax documents. I will import my tax documents from Bank B the usual way (signing into my account from within TurboTax), but how do I import tax information from Bank A, a TurboTax Import Partner? If I import the electronic documents using the steps on the support page linked below, will TurboTax desktop place the document information in the appropriate places in my tax return, or must I enter the information manually? https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/import-export-data-files/import-1099s/L2hPcduMb_US_en_US

I recently got a new job but I put in my two weeks for my current job. My new job sent me a W 4 form. Do I claim I am working 2 jobs and do I have to update my current job W-4? Or does it not matter since I’m leaving in 2 weeks? Or do I file it out that I have 1 job only? I really don’t want to owe money to the IRS.

Keep in mind as you are viewing this, your capital gains tax rate is 15% but you are taxed more for the rest of your ordinary income. You can view this on a Schedule D Tax Worksheet.
Your Capital Gains in reported on Line 29 and your capital gains tax is reported on line 31. This tax is computed at 15% of your capital gains income for the year. The rest of your income is reported on Line 21 and the tax on that income is reported in Box 44. This is taxed at your ordinary income rate.
Your total tax liability is then totaled on line 45 and then recorded on Line 16 of the 1040.

You will be able to access the 2023 return you started by using the exact same account and user ID that you used when you started it. But you can no longer use online software for any further changes.
Start a 2024 return online and enter some personal information so that the menu on the left opens up and lets you access your past year returns.
Online tax preparation and e-filing for 2023 returns is now permanently closed.
Now it is too late to use online software or to e-file. If you have any changes/corrections at all to make to your 2023 return, you now have to complete it using desktop software, which you must download to a full PC or Mac (not to a mobile device). Then you need to print, sign and mail it.

If you already paid for your online software you can ask customer support for a download of the desktop software.
They are available from 5 a.m. to 9p.m. Pacific time daily

If you are getting a refund, there is no penalty for filing late. If you owe tax due, then file and pay the amount due as shown on the Form 1040, but expect a bill later from the IRS for the penalty and interest you will owe. Only the IRS will calculate this—TurboTax will not calculate it.
When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s. Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.
Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses. Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.

No one in the user forum can resolve a billing issue. If you have a question about your TurboTax fees or billing, make sure you use the word “billing” in your request for help. Do not use the word “refund.”

To transfer info from your 2023 TurboTax for Mac return:
Open TurboTax for Mac 2024 and choose File New Tax Return.
Select Begin and choose Use a tax return that's on my computer.
Select your 2023 return from the list and select Continue.
If you don't see your return, select Find your tax return.
If your 2023 return is on another computer, here's how to move it to your present computer.
Select Continue to review the transferred information. We'll also give you opportunities to review, edit, or delete transferred information later on.
Be aware that once you've gone past the Transfer screens, you can't go back to revisit them. If you need to re-do your transfer, go back to step 1 to start over with a new return.
Transferring from TurboTax for Windows
On your PC, find last year's tax file and copy it to a removable device like a thumb drive or flash drive.
On your Mac, copy the tax file from the device to your desktop.
Open TurboTax for Mac and choose File New Tax Return.
Select Begin.
TurboTax will search for 2022 tax return files on your computer and should find it. If it doesn't, select Find your tax return.
Wait for TurboTax to finish transferring the information over.
Transferring from a non-TurboTax PDF
If you have the PDF soft copy of a 2023 return created in non-TurboTax software, you might be able to transfer from the PDF.
Here is a Video Link as well.

Hi TurboTax, I bought both NY and NJ tax programs, and now I switched my computer from Windows to a Mac. Can you please make available on my profile "ggoldschmidt" the NJ state program for Mac, like I have on it for Windows? For some reason that's not an option.
