Generally, most refunds take around three weeks to process. However, as XmasBaby0 mentions above, if you had a credit on your tax return like the Earned Income Credit or the Child Tax Credit and Additional Child Tax Credit, the processing time is a little longer.
This delay is due to the PATH Act or Protecting Americans from Tax Hikes, and it requires the IRS to hold refunds for returns claiming the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) or Additional Child Tax Credit (ACTC) until at least February 15.
You can use this IRS tool Where's My Refund? to check on the status of your refund. It provides updates regarding the processing of your tax return.
If this tool says "sent" but you haven't received it, wait at least 5 days for direct deposits or 4-6 weeks for checks, then file IRS Form 3911 for a trace.
You can also call the IRS: 1-800-829-1040 hours 7 AM - 7 PM local time Monday-Friday. Make sure to have a copy of your tax return available.
These things can delay a refund:
Your tax return has errors, is incomplete or is affected by identity theft or fraud.
Your tax return needs a correction to the child tax credit or recovery rebate credit amount.
Your tax return has a claim filed for an earned income tax credit, additional child tax credit, or includes a Form 8379, Injured Spouse Allocation PDF.
Your bank may take longer to post your refund to your bank account.
The IRS will contact taxpayers by mail if it needs more information to process their return.

Depending on the amount of information on your form, it may be easier to enter the information directly into the program yourself. See this help article if you have a large number of stock transactions.

Thanks for the suggestions, but it didn't help. I'm an admin, have Antiviruses disabled. Re-installed TurboTax with all the updates. The same issue. I tried importing from different institutions. It only shows "Importing..." popup once, but nothing happens after that. I go to "Your 2025 Income summary", where it shows that there are actually few items in Import summary, but when I click on "View" - TurboTax crashes.

You bought a code for the Desktop software. You need to download and install the program on your computer first. You need a full Windows 11 or Mac OS Sonoma 14 computer to install it. How to get started with the Desktop program, install and activate it https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/product-delivery/download-software-turbotax-com/L7u9oLEkq_US_en_US?uid=luqgvzrd Then you can continue your Online return in the Desktop program. After you get the program installed the first thing to do is to update the program and install any state programs you need. So you first need to start a fake return to be able to download the state program (go to FILE-NEW). Just enter some basic personal info like your name and address then click on the State tab at the top and it should ask if you want to download the state program. To continue in the desktop version see this……. https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/choosing-a-product/help/how-do-i-switch-from-turbotax-online-to-the-turbotax-software/00/26129 Do not click "Start a New Return." Go up to File-Open and click on "Continue From TurboTax Online."

I did a test return and added K-1 information for a trust. I put in $25,000 for capitol loss carryover. I then added a $4,000 capital gain from a stock sale. I realize the limit for the loss carryover is $3,000 but TT showed a net loss carryover of $21,000 (25,000 - 4,000). Why did TT eat up an addition $1,000 capital loss carryover? Also, how does TT know I have a loss carryover from 2025 for tax year 2026? Thank you

If your W-2 form doesn't correctly reflect overtime for a non-exempt employee in TurboTax, you can manually enter and adjust the overtime premium in the W-2 section under Wages & Income. After entering your W-2, TurboTax shows a "Let's check for other situations" screen where you can check the box for Overtime. TurboTax will then guide you to enter the eligible overtime premium amounts. There's no specific update timeline for a form change, but this manual entry option allows you to handle overtime correctly now.

What does my rejected return code mean and how do I fix it?
There are also some returns that are not able to be filed due to a processing error that will be corrected on March 6, 2026. If this is your case, after this date, open the rejected return, review it for errors, and resubmit the return for electronic filing.

Codes 2 and B are mutually exclusive on Form 1099-R because Code 2 signifies an early distribution with an exception (non-Roth), and Code B indicates a designated Roth account distribution.
Therefore, a Form 1099-R containing both codes is invalid. The payer must be contacted to obtain a corrected Form 1099-R.

Taxpayer's (or spouse's) Identifying Information is missing. In order to electronically file your return, Prior Year Identifying Information must be entered for the taxpayer (and for the spouse if applicable). To enter the information on your return:
Open your tax file and go to File
Proceed to the screen, "Review Your Federal Filing Choices"
Review your Identifying Information (AGI)
If you filed a prior year return, you must enter the Prior Year AGI for the Taxpayer (and Spouse if applicable). Do not use the tabs at the top of the screen to exit this interview. Once you have made the necessary corrections, you may resubmit this return for electronic filing. If the reject continues, you may need to print and file this return by mail.
How do I find last year's AGI?
