For my case, I have a monthly charge/fee in an etf (BAR) that they sell a small "share" to cover. The cost basis is not reported and you have to go to a calculator online to get it (but this is kind of ridiculous since etrade/morgan stanley could easily do this as well or even TT), so the cost basis is often < $1.
If I do the normal flow and report costs basis not reported, leave the cost basis from the import blank and click "The cost basis is incorrect or missing on my 1099‑B" and then "Continue" to "
I know my cost basis and need to make an adjustment Actual cost basis" and enter the < $1 amount and continue then it is stuck in "Needs Review".
WORKAROUND: If I instead remove the <$1 "adjustment" and instead just enter the cost basis in the main form's costs basis field but still click "The cost basis is incorrect or missing on my 1099‑B". Then it finally removed the "Needs Review". But I have to do this for every month.
If the form does not accept a <$1 value then it should say that and should inform or even have a way that it just deals with it. Eg sum all the values for that stock or sum such so in the end it calculates > $1. If it was a single entry <$1 then maybe it is not a big deal to enter 0. But when you have that all over hundreds of entries to scroll through (repeatedly because of the terrible navigation, no memory of where you last were) then this is a big deal for a paid product. It really shouldn't be this bad and this hard. Tell Claude to fix it!
Saying to just enter 0 and don't complain is wrong and very unprofessional. This is financial software and can be checked against source data. You don't enter 0 (or any different value) when you have an actual value on the form/documents. TT needs to behave properly and deal with it.
