I sold a commercial property at a loss. I am using Turbo Tax Premier. There is no place to enter the information. I need IRS form #4797. Will Turbo Tax Premier accommodate me?

That seems like the correct answer and correct way to handle it. Is it properly handling the amounts?

I finally figured it out. The program has a glitch in it regarding the question if you had been a foreign resident at any time of the year. I answered no. All my answers were no. After processing the information and seeing that the Social Security amount was not carrying to the taxable column, I went back through every question and discovered my answer had been changed to yes! I can't believe how much time I wasted trying to figure this out! I changed it back to no and now it's showing correctly.

That's a great suggestion, theoretically. However, the reason so many people have recently asked this question is that there is a bug in the online version (using Premium, having upgraded from Deluxe), which means that the 1040-ES is not being offered anywhere. Indeed, the current UI bears no resemblance to this rosy picture being painted, of the form being available (as it used to be) under Other Tax Situations. You're not missing anything; it's just not there. Could someone from TurboTax (does anyone monitor these forums?) please fix this bug as soon as possible?

My 2025 Arizona tax submission was rejected. The problem, according to the email from Turbotax is: "641-140 Arizona Schedule A, Line 7A does not equal line 5A subtracted from line 6A:; FRM-Error has occurred on the Arizona Adjustment to State Income Taxes Schedule." I reviewed Turbotax's Arizona Schedule A worksheet on page 2, and noticed that the amount on Turbotax's Line 4A Limit from federal Schedule A "Enter $40,000 ($20,000 if married filing separate)" is different from the amount on the same worksheet that I downloaded from the Arizona Department of Taxation website. "Enter $10,000 ($5,000 if married filing separate)" As a result, on Line 4A of this worksheet Turbotax is erroneously filling in $40,000 instead of $10,000, causing the calculation (and my tax submission) to be rejected. Please review this and fix it so that I can re-file my Arizona state taxes.

The message is " An error exists on this page. Acrobat may not display the page correctly. Please contact the person who created the PDF document to correct the problem". How do I contact TurboTax to correct the problem? Thank you.

I have TurboTax Home/Business version. Yes, i went through the trouble of removing Defender, Malwarebytes, firewalls, switching Wi-Fi to hotspot, app permissions, and trusted sites. None of it worked. When I installed on a vanilla machine, I noticed it was installing the C++ Redistributable libraries. That was the culprit. Solution: Use Add/Remove programs and remove all copies and versions of Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable libraries. Rerun the installation and allow the installer to reload the C++ libraries.

In my situation I don't have my TurboTax files in my Personal Vault as I have found that to be problematic on many levels, but they do sync to OneDrive, and I usually open them from OneDrive. Here is what I have found to be helpful: 1. After installing TurboTax for the first time, create a tax return file by simply starting a return and then saving it, even if it only has a name for data in it. Always start TurboTax by double clicking this file rather than the Generic TurboTax icon. That seems to bypass many of the re-activation issues (but is not 100%). 2. Sometimes when you double click the icon referenced above an update happens and once again the request for activation comes up. Close TurboTax via the upper right-corner X. Open your Personal Vault (I know it should matter if your file is not there, but opening it seems to work), and double click the file again. I have found that TurboTax does an update again (even though is should be done), only this time it starts without asking for another reactivation. Based on other experiences I have seen posted, it seems like the activation has something to do with the computer configuration (a really bad idea for this kind of software). Adding or taking away external drives can change this, and the activation software treats the computer as different if the configuration is different. I suspect that "Personal Vault" is treated like another drive in the Windows configuration, and TurboTax is seeing this. So you have to go back to your "original configuration" in order for TurboTax to believe you are still on the same computer. This needs to be fixed by Intuit, but looking through the posts it has been this way for years and Intuit does not seem inclined to fix it. I've decided that I will try to install it in a dedicated VM next year to see if I can avoid all this.

Not everyone has a IRS pin and only you and the IRS would know that you have the PIN assigned to you. It would a potential security risk if the IRS divulged to Turbo Tax, or any other company or individual, which individuals have IRS PINs. Consider this a test of the security benefit of having a PIN. If someone other than you had attempted to file a return with your tax payer number (soc. sec) and without the PIN, it would have also been rejected. So, the in this case the process worked as designed.

@Carol1247 wrote: I couldn't e-file my return because Turbo Tax said to include my IP-PIN. I never received an IP-PIN. I printed my return instead. I called IRS and they hadn't sent me an IP-PIN. Not everyone gets one. I think it's just people who have had or might have security problems. I don't know why Turbo Tax said that I must include it. I also had an odd problem with the chat feature. I clicked on chat and a girl named Tonya came up and wanted to share my screen. She roamed around the start page for almost 45 minutes, but didn't have any advice. She wanted to load some software on my computer, but I decided to stop communication with her because it was starting to sound like a scam. I don't trust Turbo Tax anymore and I've stopped using them. I called them, but they never called back. "couldn't efile..." So you never efiled at all? Or did you efile, but then got an IND-181 rejection like the title of this thread? A lot of people who have to use IP PINs do not get a letter, especially those who opted-in to the program. Instead, for many people their IP PIN is shown in their online IRS account each year. If you got an IND-181 rejection, then for one reason or another, the IRS was expecting one. If the IRS thought you needed one. In many cases like that, it's because one is already in the online IRS account. If you never submitted the efile at all, then I don't know why TurboTax would even know whether you needed one or not. "I also had an odd problem with the chat feature. That would be concerning. How did you access that chat feature? Did you click on a link from inside your Online TurboTax that said "Get Expert Help?" You should discuss that experience with TurboTax Support. Contact TurboTax Hours 5AM-9PM Pacific, 7 days/week https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/contact/

Where do I put my son's dependent 1095-a.My e-file keeps getting rejected, it only ask for me and my wife, who is on Social Security the only options are us. My return keeps getting rejected on the 1095 A section and the Turbo Tax program indicates that it is somebody in the house that is receiving a 1095 A as a dependent (my son). My wife and I are on social security therefore we shouldn't be the issue. When trying to remedy this they only give me options for my wife and I, is there any fix to this? Is this a possible bug?
