Continue through the screens to import or enter your 1099-R form. 3. When asked Tell us if you moved the money through a rollover or conversion select I rolled over some or all of it to an IRA or other retirement account within the time limits (normally 60 days) and select Continue. 4. On the next screen, Did you roll over all of this (Box 1) to another retirement account? answer Yes, I rolled over to an IRA or other retirement account (or returned it to the same account) and select Continue. I never get the rollover option to select.

I tried your suggestion but still not getting the correct result.  Allow me to give you the scenario. H and W filing joint return. Each has 1099Div from broker. Both 1099Div are for foreign dividends from two countries, A &B.  When I enter H's 1099Div, the interview asks how much is foreign source, I enter the whole amount but it only allows to enter one country. It does not ask to split the total between two countries. The same problem when entering W's 1099 Div.  When the amounts transfer to Form 1116 line1(a), the amount shows zero or some incorrect amount.   If I can enter the correct amount to report for each country for the 1099 Div of H and W during the Shedule B entry, the amounts that will transfer to Form 1116 line 1(a) will be correct and my problem will be solved.  What am I doing wrong?  I am using TT Premier.  HELP...

No new firm date. Someone said TurboTax updates on Thursday. So it should be either tomorrow or Friday, or a week from tomorrow or Friday.   Next year I WILL be using a different company, and I have been using TurboTax for about twenty years straight. They couldn't care less...even sending texts saying "All your forms are available...file today!". smh

My 1099R Tax amt is $31,294.  Min Req Distribution (from my Fin Planner, Wells Fargo) is $11297.  Why a penalty according to TurboTax?   My wife Tax amt $3991.  Min Req Distribution (again Wells Fargo) $3990.   Again Turbo Tax wants to calculate penalty.   Is there a problem with TurboTax?

I was on the phone with a live expert today and he said that he will send me a message.  After about an hour I saw an email notification of the expert's message.  I click on the link and I get to the page where it says "Welcome back, we are glad you are here"  There is a Get started button, but no message.  How do I retrieve the message from the live expert.  How can something so simple not work?  I use the desktop version and I paid for it.  Why is it now asking me to get started and paying for a package again?  Even when I go into my account, there is no message center where I could retrieve the message.

Thank you dmertz for your quick response! Both my wife and I are over 55 and we each have our own separate Self-only policies with HDHP.  Our Total Household Limit is 10,600.  I found where I incorrectly selected the wrong option for my wife and it no longer shows an excess payment.

The input for HSA personal contributions is available. Here is how you can enter personal contributions to an HSA in TurboTax Online:   Click on Federal Taxes,  Deduction & Credits Choose "add/edit" or "start" HSA, MSA Contributions If you received any distributions for medical expenses, you'll need to enter information from your 1099-A, otherwise choose that you did not use your Health Savings Account (HSA) to pay for anything in 2025, and continue on. You will see a page titled "Your HSA Summary" which will show any deductions already computed from your W-2   Choose Edit, Check the box for HSA, Continue You'll now see a screen that says "Here's what we have so far" with the information from the 1099-SA, choose "Edit" After the entry screen for the amount distributed, double check the number is accurate, continue and when it asks "Did you spend your HSA money on medical expenses only?" answer "Yes", if accurate.  Choose done and continue until you get to a screen that says "Let's enter your HSA contributions" In the box "Any contributions you personally made (not through your employer)" Here is where you enter the amounts you did NOT contribute through paycheck withholding.

This totally worked on a WIN11 PC.  Thank you -
Seriously, can Turbo Tax address this issue.  Just having a 1099-Q on my return creates this issue.  Fix the problem already!

TurboTax Desktop for Windows will transfer last year's tax data file (.tax2024 file) or PDF from the 2024 version of TurboTax Desktop or Online.  To transfer your 2024 return to 2025, follow these instructions from this TurboTax Article:   Launch TurboTax 2025 and click Start a New Return (or go to File and select New Tax Return).  Don't select Continue, as transferring is only available on new, empty returns. Select the Transfer Return button on the Good News! screen. You can also select Browse and in the pop-up window, select All Files (*.*) from the dropdown menu. Then browse to wherever you stored your 2024 return and select Open. Still can't find it? It might be on another computer. See this article for help in moving it to this computer. Follow any onscreen instructions. We'll give you opportunities to review, edit, or delete transferred info later on. Note: Once you've gone past the Transfer screens, you can't go back to revisit them. If you need to redo your transfer, go back to step 1 to start over with a new return.
I took a 529 distribution and entered the 1099-Q but there is no place for me to enter room and board not paid to the school in a 1098T. It only asks about books and materials
