I am a non resident alien but received a 1042-S form from my brokerage account for Code 1 - Interest paid by U.S obligors, and Code 6 - Dividends paid by U.S obligors. Since the brokerage account has been making tax withholdings form this activity, how should I include these activity and withholdings in my return?

I don't know either. However, I assume you want to streamline the tax filing process by consolidating all related information in TurboTax, treating it as a one-stop shop. From my experience, it is a novel idea, but hard to implement. Instead, do it the old-fashioned way, recording tax filing-related information in a designated notebook by hand is the easiest and most effective way. Alternatively, you can print the estimated tax payment receipt and place it in a physical folder. Additionally, collect any printed or digital info, in paper form, that will be used next year and place it in the folder as well.

For your Per-Diem that is in Box 14 of your Form W-2 you can select "Other (not classified)" in the TurboTax category box dropdown. If your employer included the per diem in Box 14, it is generally informational and not taxable. If it was not taxable, it should not affect your tax liability.

No one in the user forum can see your return or "review" it for you. In order to have an expert review a return you would have to pay for that service.
Start out by double checking all of the amounts you entered for your friend and make sure you did not add any extra zeros or misplace a decimal or use a comma where a decimal should have been used. And take a second look at the AGI on line 11 that you are citing. Tax due is shown on line 37 of the Form 1040.

To file a Grand Rapids local income tax return, you must include pages 1 and 2 of your federal return, along with your supporting documents like W-2s, 1099s, and relevant schedules (C, E, etc.). You do not need to send your entire federal return, only the key pages that verify income and withholding, and you must sign the return.

No, you cannot claim a tax credit for those windows. Because Marvin Windows chose not to participate in the 2025 federal tax credit program, they do not have a Qualified Manufacturer Identification Number (QMID), which means you cannot claim the Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit for these windows on your 2025 tax return.
Under IRS regulations for 2025, any exterior windows or skylights must be produced by a "qualified manufacturer" that has registered with the IRS and provided a specific QMID for their qualifying products. Marvin Windows and Doors explicitly stated that they opted out of the program for 2025 due to the increased complexity of the new IRS reporting rules and the stringent Energy Star Version 7.0 performance standards.

Q. Should I have instead checked the box, "I paid a different amount than shown in Box 1" and entered the number in the field that appears?
A. No, just to keep it simple. In theory, entering $1666 in that field is the same as entering the 1666 directly in box 1.

If your IRS Online account showed a refund was issued but you have not received it, you could file a Form 3911 to report a missing refund, but it sounds like no refund is showing. Are you sure your return was accepted by the IRS?
You can use this link to sign in to your online account Online account for individuals. This will show information even before "Where's My Refund" updates for it. You can also look under Letters & Notices in your Online Account to see if there is a letter or notice that is going to be sent to you regarding your refund.
Since 50 days have elapsed, your return is likely delayed due to errors, missing information, or identity verification. Since it is beyond 21 days for e-filing or 6 weeks for mailing, you should verify your IRS account transcript or contact the IRS directly for a status update. If they have accepted your return, they should be able to provide you with information regarding it's status because it is beyond any of the processing dates noted by the IRS.
If this shows that his refund was issued but not received, you can start a trace with the IRS by filing Form 3911. Refunds can be claimed for up to three years after the tax deadline.
You can also call the IRS: 1-800-829-1040 hours 7 AM - 7 PM local time Monday-Friday. Make sure to have a copy of your tax return available.
