I recently updated my W-2 income in the TurboTax application. One of my W-2 forms included information about my HSA contributions, for which I contributed $4,150 based on the individual contribution limit for last year (2024). This amount was shown as W 4150 on my W-2.
I did not go to the deductions section, but I was surprised to see that the TurboTax UI indicated that I owe some amount to the IRS. When I clicked on the details, it mentioned that this was due to excess contributions to my HSA.
My employer, USAA, does not contribute to my HSA, and I only contributed the maximum allowed amount. Could this be a bug in TurboTax, or is there something I might have missed?
