The IRS gets that information and if you file without reporting the information on both of your W-2's that have your social security number on them, you will have a problem!  You need to report both W-2's on your return.

I was unable to get my w2, but I did notify the IRS. Will I get a stimulus check?

The third round of stimulus payments (1400) are separate from your tax returns.

However, any missed round one and/or two payments (1200 and 600) would be on your 2020 tax return as a Recovery Rebate Credit.

Since your tax return is missing income reported on a W2, the processing of your tax return may be delayed while the IRS attempts to reconcile the income you reported against what your employers reported.

You will likely get a letter explaining the delay and providing guidance to make the correction.

I have already filed my w2,but forgot I have another coming by mail from my current employer. How would I go about filing it when I receive it?

I already filed my taxes but forgot a w2

@moni61 AFTER the IRS has fully processed your tax return you are going to have to file an amended return on Form 1040 X to add the W-2 that you did not include when you filed your original return.

You cannot change or add anything on the return that you just e-filed.  It is too late, just like when you put an envelope in a US mailbox
Now you have to wait until the IRS either rejects or accepts your return. The IRS will begin processing returns on January 23, 2017.  If your return is rejected, you will be able to go into your account and make the necessary changes to your tax return and re-submit your return.
If the IRS accepts your return, however, then you have to wait longer until it has been fully processed and you have received your refund.  THEN you can prepare an amended tax return and mail it in. You will need to use a form called a 1040X. You cannot e-file an amended return.  They have to be mailed, and it takes at least 3-4 months for the IRS to process an amended return.  Meanwhile, DO NOT go in and start changing anything on your return in the system, or you will make a mess for yourself.  Sit tight and wait until you see what the IRS does with the return you just e-filed

I am going to file for a refund on my social security and medicare tax. I require two W-2 forms since i worked for two employers. I got my federal tax refund without any issues a month back. But for FICA(Social security and medicare) i do not have W2 for one of the employers. I lost the copy i had and i do not work there anymore. Also the company is closed because of the pandemic and it is unlikely i will get my W2 by July 15th

So my question is can i file my refund without one of the W2? will i get refund just for the other one at least or will it be rejected all together? Kindly advise. I am freaking out since i have just 3 more days to file it

Whoa!  What did you do?  You have to file all your income and W2s on the same tax return.  And without the other W2 how do you know you overpaid SS?  You don't overpay Medicare, there is no max.

If you filed without the other job you need to amend your return to add it.  You need to get another copy of the W2.  How to amend a 2019 Online return

If you don't report all of your income, then the IRS will send you a notice in the mail.  All tax forms are sent to both you and the IRS.  When you file a tax return the IRS matches the forms up with what you report on your tax return.  If something is missing (and a computer will always catch a W-2), then they'll send you a notice and also a bill for anything you owe.  If you have a refund, they probably won't bother letting you know (they're sneaky like that).

What do you mean they probably won't bother letting you know? Will they just take the difference out and send the rest to you?

That information is incorrect. 4 years ago I didnt file one of my w2s, and I have yet to receive any notice whatsoever.

That is not typical these days.  The IRS computers match W2s and other income documents filed by employers to individual returns.  If there is something missing or different the return is flagged and a letter is typically generated.

@Kivette bro You do not get to choose how much of your income you want to enter.

Every 2020 W-2 that you received must be reported on your 2020 tax return, even if they are for small amounts.  Remember that each one of those W-2’s has your Social Security number on it, and that income was reported to the IRS by the employer.  You do not want to get in trouble with the IRS for under-reporting your income.

ALL of your W-2’s must be entered on the SAME tax return.

Go to Federal>Wages & Income to enter a W-2.

After you enter the first one, you click Add Another W-2.

W-2's come from your employer, and they have until February 1 to issue it.  Some employers allow you to import the W-2 through the software, but for security reasons you still need information from the actual W-2 to import it.  You might need to phone, drop in, email and/or snail mail an old employer to make sure they know where to send your W-2.

And….SAVE YOUR OWN W-2!  TURBOTAX DOES NOT SAVE IT FOR YOU.  TurboTax will not have a copy of it in your account and will not have an image even if you snapped a photo.  It is up to you to save it for your own records as stated on the back of the W-2.

@Dakota2016   After the IRS finishes processing your first return and send you the refund you will probably have to amend to add the 2nd W2.

I've forgotten several W2s and nothing happened. Probably because they owed me more with them. And this begs the question if they can just say oh well and not pay me why can I not do the same?... Seems pretty unconstitutional to me..

If you filed your tax return without entering all of your 2020 income, after your first return has been fully processed you need to amend your return to include that income.
