Yes, to order a download version of TurboTax for 2016, you will visit the following TurboTax link: https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/cd-download/, and choose the version of TurboTax that you wish to purchase and click on the Buy Now button for that version.

Once you have completed your purchase you can follow the instructions listed in the TurboTax FAQ below to download your purchased download:

To file a return for a prior tax year
If you need to prepare a return for 2015, 2016, or 2017 you can purchase and download desktop software to do it, then print, sign,  and mail the return(s)

Remember to prepare your state return as well—if you live in a state that has a state income tax.
When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.  Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.
Note:  The desktop software you need to prepare the prior year return must be installed/downloaded to a full PC or Mac.  It cannot be used on a mobile device.

You can only buy the download for prior years. You have to buy a separate program for each year. They only sell the last 3 years. You need a full Windows or Mac computer to install it on. Buy the download here

Important! Mail Federal and State in separate envelopes and mail each year in separate envelopes.

If you are getting a refund, there is not a penalty for filing past the deadline. You have 3 years to file for a refund. If you owe taxes, the interest/penalties will be calculated by the IRS based on how much you owe and when they receive your return and payment. The IRS will bill you for this; it will not be calculated by TurboTax.

The 2016 return cannot be efiled. It has to be printed, signed, dated, and mailed.

This morning I requested Tax file for 2016. You sent me 2017 and 2018 (not a problem) but there was no data in file marked 2016. I think the problem may be that in 2016 I did TurboTax in .Mac not Windows. If so, might it be possible to resend 2016 in a PDF that could work in .Mac or Windows?

@da50 But did you use the Online web version or the Mac Desktop program installed on your Mac? If you download the pdf file you can open it on any computer or device. If you have the .tax2016 dat file you need the Mac 2016 program installed to open it.

If you only have the Windows version ask for the Mac download. Contact Customer Service
