2022 Dependent Daughter's College Grant: All my research says HEERF (CARES) grant is not taxable and does not need to be reported to the IRS. No 1098 was received because these are not reportable funds.
However, it looks like California does consider this taxable income. Does she need to file after all because CA considers this income taxable? Or did I misunderstand?

Thank you for the reply. But that refers to the individual payments in 2021.
This is the HEERF grant for 2022. Turbo tax is stating that "The CARES act allows an exclusion from gross income for emergency financial aid. California does not conform to this federal provision."
If we have to claim it, would I claim it on my taxes since she is my dependent or file separately for her with this information?
