Only box 1 is filled in on my 1098 t form is this normal. Additionally, when I entered my information from the 1098 t my refund goes up by $2000. Does this appear to be correct?

It's very common for box 1 to be the only entry on a 1098-T.
The Lifetime Learning Credit is a maximum of $2,000. So, a $2000 increase in your refund is not unusual, assuming you did not have a 0 tax liability (line 12b of form 1040).
