If you are able to claim a deduction for your tuition you will also be allowed to deduct the cost of books or materials for college. If it was used entirely for your education then that includes your laptop.
If you are unable to claim a deduction for your tuition because someone else paid it or someone else is claiming you then you will not be able to deduct your laptop either.
Q. Can I write off my laptop I used for college on my taxes it was 450?
