Where do I deduct continueing education expenses to maintain my health insurance producers license? Schedule C or Schedule A?
It depends on how you are paid for your work:
- Continuing education expenses are deducted as your business expenses (Schedule C) if you are self-employed -paid through cash/checks/1099-MISC, OR
- They are deducted as job related expenses (Sch A) if you are paid through W-2 for your services.
- If you are paid as both, you would allocate the cost between two types
