When you first open your return and see "let's keep working on your taxes", scroll down to the section "Your tax returns and documents". If you prepared your 2021 tax return in TurboTax, in the same account, you should see "2021" listed among the documents you can select to view. Your Schedule A would be included in the completed 2021 return. If you used a different TurboTax account for 2021, you would need to log in to that account to view your return. If you want to open up the prior year return to amend it or access the input screens, follow the directions in this help article.
If you didn't use TurboTax for 2021 or are looking for what the IRS has in its records, you can request a Tax Return Transcript from the IRS. See here for more information and instructions. You can sign up for an online account, or request a transcript to be received by mail.
There are several different types of transcripts. For detailed information including most line items from your original Form 1040-series tax return as filed, along with any forms and schedules, request a Tax Return Transcript.
It's important to print or save a complete PDF copy of your tax return. To print your tax return worksheets and schedules after you file, please follow these instructions:
- Log into your TurboTax account
- Scroll to the bottom of page, click Add a State( you are not adding a state, this is just to get in the right menu)
- Over to the left, click Tax Tools dropdown
- Click the Print Center
- Click the Print, save or preview this year's return
- Check Federal returns and/or State returns
- Select Include government and TurboTax worksheets (optional)
- Then,click View or print forms
