Please clarify.
The Schedule E is blank except for name of my mother in law's estate and ID number from an amended 2019 return filed in 2021. I E-filed 2021 taxes with a CPA because turbo tax kept telling me owed over $3000. Not matter what I did it would calculate monies under capital gains when it wasn't capital gains. It was approx $140,000 and didn't pass the $250,000 threshold. It cost me $650 for the CPA and I did not owe anything. My 2021 return excepted by the IRS.
How do I delete the Schedule E? Afraid to E-File with blank Schedule E because it could trigger an audit, I'm in my 70's and can't handle any stress.
I meant to say 2021 return filed with CPA had a rental property I sold on it. Sorry.
If you had no rental activity in 2022 and disposed of the property in 2021, you can select Tax Tools>>Tools>>Delete a Form>>Delete next to schedule E.
When you got to the final review TurboTax will do a check, it would not let you file with a blank Schedule E, it would have you enter information and since you do not have any info, you would end up having to delete it.
If you happen to be using the desktop version, you would go to forms mode, then click on Schedule E then delete in the lower left hand corner.
Vanessa, thanks I got that to work. However, it took me awhile by signing in and a couple of times because the Tools bar wasn’t there. Finally, got it to work, finalized and e-filed my return and it was already accepted by the IRS. Never seen so may glitches in Turbo Tax as I have in last 2 years.
Last time I was unable to fix the capital gains error, even chatted with someone fromTurboTax and they said it wasn’t an error.
Cost $650 to have my 2021 return done by a CPA and they confirmed that I didn’t owe anything. They E-Filed my return and it was accepted by IRS.
I’ve been using TurboTax for years, had always highly recommended it to friends and family.
I would like TurboTax to reimburse me for $650 cost of needing another tax professional.
